Relax and design, carve and print beautiful stamps

Carving is my form of meditation. The single focus of tool cutting rubber helps me to destress - plus I have something gorgeous to print with afterwards. Carving stamps is relatively inexpensive, does not require a lot of space and is highly gratifying and addictive!

In this crafts class I will introduce you to my process of designing, carving and printing. I will share with you my materials, techniques and tips. We will talk about simple blocks, layering stamps and repeating tile stamps. You will then design and carve a small rubber block and then print with it, creating some beautiful stationery.

I have been developing my carving and printmaking skills since 2015 and love to create gorgeous art prints and unique greeting cards. Not only do I use stamps in my daily art practice but I also love to get crafty with homemade wrapping paper and gift tags.

Class outcomes:

  • Breathe, relax, carve.
  • Learn basic carving techniques.
  • Create some beautiful cards and take home your stamp to use again and again.

FAQ
I am really interested in learning how to block print on to fabrics (preferably heavier fabrics like linen and wool). Is that something you would be able to accommodate?
Sam

The main part of the class is carving the stamp but we can talk about design choice for fabric printing. I am also happy for her to bring some linen on request, and I can provide several types of fabric block printing ink.
