Kelly has been playing the piano for over 20 years. She began playing the piano at the age of 9. At the age of 16, she completed her Grade 7 Practical and Grade 5 Theory in Piano at the Australian Guild of Music and Speech. Due to cultural and family pressures, she took a path of Medical Science until her mid-twenties. The passion of music was always present so she decided to audition for tertiary studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). On her search for a piano teacher to help her audition, she came across a few teachers who told her she was too old, had stopped playing the piano for too long and they wouldn't take her on as a student. However, she was determined to pursue a path of music so she found a teacher who prepared her for the audition and she was accepted in WAAPA upon her first audition and graduated with a Diploma of Music (Piano). She has shown that you are never too old to start learning music with the 3 P's. Most people consider the 3 P's as: Practice, Practice and Practice. However, Kelly has demonstrated her 3 P's as: Persistence, Patience and LOTS of Practice.
In addition to piano, Kelly has experience in classical singing where she is currently undergoing training to improve her voice, which transpires into her vocal coaching and mentoring for the students. During her studies at WAAPA, she has performed with the West Australian Opera Chorus.
Kelly's strengths are in teaching classical piano and with such strong foundations, she is capable of teaching other genres. With years of experience of teaching children through to adult, she tailors lessons around her students ability and goals, whilst maintaining correct technique, and most importantly, having FUN!
