Cooking French cuisine for the first time at Cooking on The Bay was a great experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of reviewing the menu, executing the (very hands-on) method and the best of all, the tasting! Learning about French cooking techniques and the best options for locally sourced food was insightful. I admired Tonya’s enthusiasm for cooking and attention to detail. Another awesome cooking experience - last weekend’s Italian cuisine was the third one for me having done the French and Spanish classes recently - have learnt a lot from all three and it’s not just the specific cuisines but also cooking techniques, use of different ingredients and equipments! While it’s rather hectic day as we prepare 7 to 9 dishes, it’s all done in enjoyable and fun environment. Love it and highly recommend Tonya Jennings classes!

Have just enjoyed a great day at Cooking On The Bay doing Tonya’s Moroccan cooking class. The group made (with lots of help from Tonya) flat bread, bean dip, honey salted aubergines, Berbera omelette, B’stikla-Moroccan spiced chicken pie, Cranberry jelly and a Chocolate, date & almond torte.
We then got to sit down at a beautifully set table, overlooking Port Phillip Bay, to enjoy the meal together, with wine provided.
Tonya gives lots of tips and info throughout the day and you are also given a folder with all the recipes and lots of additional information.
I had previously done other classes with Tonya when she was in Queensland and was so pleased to be able to do the class today. It had been too long between classes.

Cooking by the Bay is literally cooking with amazing views over Port Phillip Bay.
I was very impressed with the format of the day beginning with a thorough insight into the food we were endeavouring to cook that day.
A small class of six bonded well and with the wonderful Joan as Tonya’s assistant we navigated our way through the menu.
Today theme was Mediterranean - Touch of Spice which was inspiring and delicious and as we prepared the food that we would later enjoy together, Tonya was a wealth of knowledge and gave many tips throughout the day.
The dining experience was a delight and with a glass of wine and new friends made, I would highly recommend this cooking experience.

Friends along with my husband and I attended the Italian cooking class with Tonya on Sunday. What a fun day lots of learning along with many laughs and amazing food! We had a great class, and all enjoyed the friendly banter! We learnt many tips and tricks in the kitchen which enhanced our food. It was all Italian and we made Focaccia, Salsa, Pesto, spinach and ricotta ravioli, tagliatelle puttanesca, panna cotta, limoncello sauce and almond tart! It was a busy but very enjoyable day!! So much delicious food that we will all be recreating.

We broke into 4 groups of 2 to make 2 desserts each but also got to see our peers working on their respective desserts so we were able to gain a lot of insight into all the dishes. Great fun and, despite a complete lack of cooking skills on my behalf, Tonya managed to focus us on the tasks at hand (after some initial early speedhumps :)) and we all produced some fantastic food.
Loved that we got to take away the recipes and also learnt basic tips on the way through like best way to cut onions; garlic etc. Also great follow up from Tonya with tips and tricks for various things and where she got all her goodies from.

Fabulous day cooking Spanish food, sharing stories and enjoying a delicious meal with people who had mostly just met each other that morning. I don't cook much but I do love Spain. I actually walked the Camino de Stantiago in June this year and it was a longing for memories of Spain that drew me to this class. Tonya was a friendly, enthusiastic hostess who generously shared her extensive food and flavour knowledge and practical cooking skills in way that catered to the different levels in the small group. From experienced cooks to complete novices like me, everyone was included, encouraged and appropriately challenged with ease and a sense fun and humour.
