20 years of dance experience and a genuine passion for teaching and engaging the community

From childhood Angela had an interest in art and movement, starting with a passion for visual art, and her own self-directed hobby of lounge room based interpretive dance and performance art.

Later this grew into a serious pursuit when she was enrolled into dance classes at Byron School of Dance with Val Steward, and continuing on toNewtown High School of Performing Arts and Brent Street Studios.

Angela received her tertiary dance training from Brent Street, TheNational Theatre Ballet School and Ev and Bow.

Throughout the years Angela has had the privilege of training and working overseas with companies and choreographers in Europe, UK and USA.In 2011 Angela founded Twisted Element, something she had decided washer purpose in life by the age of 14. Between 2011-13 she created four full-length works as well as several commissioned short works.

In 2014 Angela moved to the UK to further develop her artistic practice, it was during this time that she began working as art, fashion and specialist dance model, eventually touring nationally and internationally and in her
second year, was invited to present workshops teaching photographers about dance aesthetics for the camera with renowned photography trainer Andrew Appleton. This also saw the pair being invited to The Johannesburg Photo and Film Expo where Angela delivered a stage presentation.

In London, she was cast in the multimedia symphony ‘The Infinite Bridge’ with Director Peter Cox in its world premiere. During this period Angela also worked with Hack Ballet under the directorship of Briar Adams. In 2015, she was commissioned to choreograph her piece ‘Bird Woman’ for Transform Company in London.

Angela also toured the UK teaching workshops in dance colleges, was guest teacher for the Cecchetti Associate Program at The Rambert School and presented her own creative professional workshops ‘SpeakingMovement’ at Islington Arts Centre.

Since moving back to Australia, Angela has re-established Twisted Element as an immersive and interactive dance theatre company, currently being the only of its type in the country.

The company premiered their first immersive work ‘Opus’. in 2017 to sold out audiences and rave reviews. The company quickly became sought after for its unique creative aesthetic and style and has since been invited to perform at The Other Art Fair by Satchi Gallery, Pact Salon, Head On Photo Festival, Sydney Fringe Ignite, Animalia by Ginger and the Ghost, and AMP's White Event. 'Opus' also toured to Circus Monoxide in Wollongong and The Arts House in Wyong in 2018.

In 2019 the company has premiered a taster season of Angela's newest immersive work 'RITUAL' to a sold out season and more rave reviews.

Along side choreography and directing, Angela is also a passionate teacher and mentor, working for The Arts Unit's State Dance Ensembles as a contemporary teacher for the Primary and Senior Ensembles.

In 2018 Angela founded her youth company Wild Hearts Youth Dance Co, with the desire to create opportunities for young dancers in Sydney to experience dance in a way they wouldn't be able to in their schools or studios and empower them with the skills and creative tenacity essential for success in the global dance environment. Creating a full-length work 'Vaihtovirta' with 15 young dancers from across Sydney. Later in 2018 she expanded the company to junior aged dancers, recruiting 12 dancers aged 10-12, creating a short dance film 'Beauty Queen'.
