Great experience with a small group of people. The teacher was really approachable and guided us through the steps and pitfalls to avoid in the process. There were lots of beautiful coloured glass mosaic tiles and beads to choose from to make our individual masterpieces!
My daughter and I walked away after the 2 hour session with a lovely turkish table lamp (with the globe even)great experience and highly recommended :)

A lovely thing to do on a date, with a friend or a loved one. We had a great time, the instructions were clear and the craft was easy but satisfying!

Jacqui Lademann Apr 2024

What a wonderful experience!

We booked in as a group of 5 for a friend’s birthday. None of us had done it before yet we were very happy with our final product at the end.

Essie our instructor was a delight! We will be back.

Matthew Harter Apr 2024

Really great fun. Lots of different options for how you'd like to make your lamp and Essie was super helpful and really lovely. Great afternoon, thank you!

We loved our Turkish jewellery workshop. Very relaxing.
It would have been good if the workshop was at least 1hour30. 1hour is very short.
I can’t remember the name of the lady who was doing the workshop but she was very nice and helpful.

It was a great class, beautiful lamps were created, plenty of colours, and precut mosaic glass shapes, and beads provided so we don't have to cut anything. Great for kids too.
Semra is a great teacher, and very patient with all of us. I have already booked my next class. I discovered that the studio also teaches silk painting, jewellery making and other forms of art.

Helene Travis Mar 2024

The class was fun and quite therapeutic designing and completing the candle! My daughter and I enjoyed it very much.

Michael Gaffney Feb 2024

The teacher was amazing and was very supportive throughout the whole process, striking a really good balance between offering help and guidance, and giving us free reign. The tiles were beautiful to look at and sort through. By far and large the tiles were all sorted and organised which is an insane feat considering how hectic the workshop can get. Would definitely recommend this workshop. Ended up with a beautiful product, as well as tips on how to improve it if we were nitpicking certain parts about it at home. The time blew by and didnt feel like it was two hours. Small side note, its really not a calm relaxing workshop as theres a lot of decisions with colour matching, themes, tile placement and patterns, so you'll be working on it right until the end. That being said I'm very tempted to do it again to try different colours and patterns

I really enjoyed the course, felt the course was rushed and a 3 hour session would be more suitable for older students like myself who needed added assistance which possibly an assistant to the course provider as I don’t feel she could give a better teaching experience on her own and I am now going to have to make adjustments to my craft at home

I got a birthday voucher and brought along a friend for her birthday. We did come a few minutes late, so missed the initial instructions, but another attendee was happy to fill us in.
It was a fun experience although halfway through at the sticking beads part, it started to get stressful since we were trying to finish within the timeframe. The instructor was happy to help get more materials and give tips along the way.
The overall finished lamps were so beautiful, it was fun seeing everyone's creative juices and colour combinations.
We were too focused that we only had a turkish delight and tea at the end, which were a treat!

Fantastic class! So much help and expert instruction throughout the session. The team at Anatolia Art Studio was so friendly and the studio was beautiful. The best part was that no one's lamp looked like each other because there were so many colours to choose from.

Teacher didn't seem very interested. Gave minimal instructions. Was on her phone throughout session. Didn't have stock in some bead colours. No where to wash hands or toilet. Could've been a better experience. The beads started to fall off once dry. Probably needed to be sealed. No after care instructions provided.

The Watercolour painting class at Anatolia Art Studio exceeded expectations. The instructors were very knowledgeable and there was a huge selection of templates available. The watercolour papers were high quality 300 gsm and the pigments were also good quality. Overall, I learnt a lot about traditional motifs in the Ottoman period and it was relaxing to paint along to music, tea and Turkish cookies.

Great class and so many colours to choose from with some great tips and hints along the way.

Ruby Barnard Jan 2024

The class was fun and I would recommend it, however, I did feel like it was somewhat rushed which did have an impact on our final products that we produced. The teacher was very lovely and helpful and I would recommend this class for anyone as it was quite fun and especially if you have a group of people or sit at a table with other lovely people, the class just doesn't really allow enough time to perfect your lamp and creating/choosing your design felt very rushed. My friends lamp turned out a bit wonky as they tell you to guess where the middle point would be, which was a bit hard for her as she doesn't often do creative arts, so perhaps offering a little more time or guidance to where the centre point of the lamp is to place your design would have helped her a lot. I think I would also recommend having a good idea have an idea of what you are going to create/design before arriving to the class.

Benita Thomas Jan 2024

Essie was a great teacher, was super helpful and seemed experienced! Was super casual which made it really easy to have fun while working on the lamp. Venue was great, small and intimate which made us feel more comfortable, there were heaps of colours and ideas to choose from and really encouraged creativity in us All in all, was a super great experience, would definitely do again :))

A huge selection of coloured and shapes of glass was provided for the Turkish Mosaic lamp. The teacher, Essie, instructions on how to create the lamp (or candle holder) in such a way that created, in my opinion, a calm and comfortable atmosphere. Before I started the class I was somewhat nervous but I soon relaxed and enjoyed the creative experience. I am very impressed with Essie from Anatolia Art Studio and consider the Turkish Mosaic Lamp to be extremely well priced for the quality of teaching and materials provided and what you are able to take home as a finished project.

I hosted a hens. The atmosphere was calming and relaxed, and instructions were helpful. Appreciated the tea and Turkish delight, and all the beautiful colours of the materials. My lamp looked a bit rubbish but that was because I am not the most creative, and not because instructions and materials weren't great. However our hen managed to match her lamp to her dress perfectly. Definitely bring your own pack of baby wipes to help wipe of glue from your hands, as there isn't anything provided and you will get a bit coated in beads.

Enjoyed the mosaic part of it, but not sure the owner knows how to run a business properly. This was the second time trying to come to this class, as our first booking apparently was somehow ‘double booked’. Not really sure how that happens for a class like this, but then turning up early to the class to find the whole place closed made it all feel a little dodgy and nervous - not a great way to start the lesson. The teacher was about 15 minutes late to the class, and with everyone else waiting the manager was called atleast 15 times to find out what was happening, and no one was getting an answer on the phone. It’s okay to be late, but this needs to be communicated to people aren’t waiting outside thinking they are ripped off, or have no idea if the class is happening. When the manager did answer finally, she didn’t apologise for the situation. The teacher of the class did apologise and she was a lovely person. However after the initial explanation she wasn’t really present for the class, she was just sitting there on her laptop, I didn’t even realise she was in the same room for most of it. especially during the glue phase, it would have been good to have her watching and engaging with everyone to support how much is put on - as this has a huge impact on whether the mosaic beads are actually going to stay on, and unfortunately can ruin the final product. The glue also takes a long time to try, so people are leaving the glass while it is still very wet, which makes it easier for the mosaics to fall off etc

Did enjoy the actual process, and plus was the Turkish delight and tea provided. There were a lot of colours, but still think that there could have been more, especially for the beads.

Samantha Gan Sep 2023

The class wasn't necessarily bad but it was also nothing to run home about. We arrived to the class 5 min early and everything was closed. You would think that the instructor would be inside prepping the class or even have a light on or something. The instructor was 10 mins late due to traffic which isn't the problem, it was the lack of communication. Myself, my friend and 4 other girls were waiting outside. On a google search of Anatolia Art Studio we saw reviews about people getting scammed which was an immediate red flagged but waited till the teacher arrived.

Once we were inside it all just felt a bit rushed, the teacher didn't provide as much support as you would expect and tucked herself around the corner and just sat on her laptop after the introduction. Bit of a strange atmosphere if you ask me. We were still happy with the end product but I wouldn't be rushing back or recommending Anatolia to anyone anytime soon.

A different and unique way of creating beautiful pieces of art.
We called ahead to ensure wheelchair accessibility and inclusion but still felt like they weren’t well prepared. Managed to make it over the small step at the entrance and we were seated at a different table that still needed clearing and setting up.
We made a few pieces of art using different techniques that were taught on the day, although we were unable to take them home at the end of the lesson.
Overall a fun and creative way to spend your afternoon but the class could be better executed.

Had a great time! Despite my (now very obvious) lack of creative talent, it was super fun compelling the Turkish mosaic workshop.

Instructor was friendly and helpful with clear instructions.

Venue was a good size and didn't feel cramped, even though we shared a table with some other rando's.

Would highly recommend.

Our teacher Samira was amazing. There were so many colours for us to choose from, the templates also really helped us to figure out what pattern we wanted to go for and it was really wonderful to have so many options and design choices. There was Turkish tea and Turkish delights (which we didn’t even get to because we were too busy having a ball making our lamps!) and when it came to the final half an hour or so, we realised we needed a bit more time to perfect our lamps - Samira not only let us take our time but also helped us in the final stages of finishing our lamps. We got to choose from copper or white holders which were both stunning.
I really feel like we got our moneys worth but more importantly it was just such a fun class and fun morning.

Overall fun experience. If we had to make any suggestions it would be to:

1. Provide additional paper templates in case one of the designs in on the other side of the page.
2. Thin pop sticks to apply glue to more smaller intricate parts of patterns on glassware/ fill in gaps.
3. Ensure more zen experience by managing other groups that may be a bit "loud" or " over enthusiastic". Can be distracting for other participants.

The teacher is knowledgeable and friendly. However the front door was wide open on the blistering cold and windy day. I asked it to be closed. The smell from the colours is very bad and floor standing cooler was on what contributed to room being even more cold. Huge paper waste is going on. The rubber gloves is the must to wear because it is very messy business. i would suggest to the teacher to put dryer on , so paper will be dry on the spot and students does not have to come to pick it up again. Some people have to drive from afar.

Katherine Lewis Jun 2023

Essie, our teacher, was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, organised, talented, clear speaking with clear step-by-step demonstrations, approachable, patient and greeted us with a beautiful smile.

The venue was easy to find, lots of on street parking and great location. The studio was well set up with all the paints, brushes and equipment to start immediately. Perfect for eager participants like me.

I was impressed with the variety of colours and paints available and particularly learning and seeing the behaviour of some colours and paints had on the water with different effects and reactions.

I had a wonderful and fun experience and am eager to purchase an Ebru kit to try it at home and in more classes in the near future. The class was great and offered value for money.

Ebru Art is one art technique I have always wanted to try, and loved every minute of it. I loved the freedom of playing with coloured paints in water, creating swirls, shapes, flowers, stems and leaves while having created a marbled background, only to watch your creative water painting attempt to magically appear on your paper. I loved experimenting with the different tools at hand and the horse-hair brush to create different shapes and depth of colour and in particular the 5-pin flower tool.

I loved everything about our Ebru Art class and loved the magic of painting in water only to transfer it to paper with such ease.

Ebru Art is amazing, incredible, mesmerizing, therapeutic, relaxing and immediately gratifying.

I highly recommend this class!

The class was fab! It started with a short but informative info session from our teacher explaining the steps, taking questions and offering ideas. The venue was lovely and spacious, with plenty of space to do your artwork. The variety in coloured tiles was unbelievable, the options were endless. The value for money for us was fab, to create this experience at home would not have given us as many colour options and direction so worth it for sure. Definitely recommend giving it a go

This was my second water marbling art workshop at Anatolia Art Studio. I produced a few pieces for the future exhibition. The fluidity of the medium helps to create unique magical pieces. It can be particularly relevant for the artists who strive to stop being rigid and too controlling. In Ebru, the paints have their own life, and you can only direct them so much. Even for beginners, the outcome is always mesmerising and really cool. It is wonderful that Anatolia Art Studio promotes and teaches this ancient art. You feel the history flowing through the paints and think about people practising it centuries ago.

The magic continues….

Lovely environment, really enjoyed this workshop. Very relaxing and was able to still chat and catch up with a friend. End product is practical as well. Turkish delight and tea was a nice addition. The teacher was lovely but I felt she was too busy to get around to everyone, we were given a quick explanation and then left by ourselves. She could not possibly do everything that was needed to ensure a smooth operation.
There should be another teacher helping.
The venue was good and the supplies to make the items were plentiful.
I was given the voucher by my daughter for Mother’s Day and it was fun to spend time together so I’m not complaining. Thank you :)

Our teacher was lovely, good clear instructions, making it all seem easy to learn and was engaging in conversations with everyone. The venue was great, easy to get to and very simple and clean inside. It was also a bonus having a cafe next door for a snack and coffee before hand. There was so many colours of tiles and beads to choose from so you could create what ever design you wanted. I recommend this for anyone wanting a girls day out, perfect as a Mother’s Day activity, but you could easily do it all by yourself :)

The experience was really fun, but the teacher didn’t really explained the steps in details, so we didn’t know how much glue to put and what’s the drying time. It was just like a trail and error for us. I’ve also upgraded from candle (which was $59) to swam lamp ($139) and the teacher asked to pay her $84 to upgrade. Which then ended up being $143. Anyway, the end result was that lots of beads were fallen off, but I was happy with the design and the final product. Would’ve been a better experience if the teacher offers more guidance for what we paid for.

Daniela Vrljic May 2023

It was a lovely experience. The host was really lovely and provided a great overview on how to get the best results. I walked into the class thinking we would be decorating lamps, but it seems there are multiple options available (we ended up with tea light holders), you have the option of upgrading in class. The reason for 4 stars is, a couple of the ladies in my group were after clear beads and they had run out of these. Otherwise it was a great experience. The tea and Turkish delight was a nice touch.

This class was absolutely magical! Getting to know the ancient art of water marbling, thinking about the artisans who practised it in Turkey centuries ago and ancient scrolls written on marble paper, watching the ink flow on water was a really unique and meditative experience. All teachers in Anatolia Studio are highly professional, helpful and passionate about what they teach. Highly recommend it! I was encouraged to apply my creative knowledge and experience, practice handling this medium, and was able to produce my own unique pieces such as in the photo attached.

Teacher was really lovely and helpful, and the class was really fun!
I the only feedback I would give is that the tea light and the swan lamp had the same allocated time. I feel like an extra hald hour to hour for the bigger lamp would have been a better time frame to finish it fully.
Otherwise everything else was great !

Disappointing that it didn’t live up to the description. There was limited instruction and support in how to create the piece with no demonstration or step by step approach. When asking for advice or questions there was no solutions offered. The Turkish tea service (expecting traditional Turkish teas not a bag) was just an offer of a black or green tea with no further items of Turkish sweets like it is states. Felt devoid of the cultural aspect that is also stated.
Friendly person but would not call them a teacher just a facilitator of the materials. The timing isn’t great considering how wet the glue still is and pieces of beads were falling out of the box. No take home instructions or templates to encourage further creation at home. This was a present and it was disappointing for what it was.

What was advertised on the website was not what we got. There was no afternoon tea, we didn’t learn the meaning behind the patterns or the history behind the lamps, and it wasn’t a class. It was a DIY workshop where the teacher would only help if you asked questions, he never explained what we were actually doing. There was no guidance when we were there, and as soon as we got home and tested the lamps, one of them didn’t work

Everything was set out and ready for us when we arrived. Etka told us what to do and helped us find things we needed to create out ideal tealight. It was difficult to do the detailed job I wanted to within the 2 hours - which flew by having so much fun - so in future could appreciate knowing all the steps on advance and which were going to take the most time for my own time management. Great class to do while talking with someone, definitely a take someone and be social kind of class. Would recommend and do again.

The teacher was very shy and didn't interact with the students and shown a lack of interest from her part. However, her partner was more communicative. I found it very difficult to feel comfortable with the lack of information. The lady teacher was very abrupt with my friend and messed up her work sheet. Which led my friend to really dislike the whole afternoon. I would say it is a fun thing to do. I would have loved it, if there was more interaction from the teachers and if they provided a better environment. They can absolutely be a bit more friendly and have wet wipes at the table and paint brushes for the glue paste. Rather than those thin wooden sticks and using our fingers.

I had a lovely time during the miyuki loom class. The teacher was very kind and patient, she gave us clear instructions and helped us when we would get stuck. There is ample choice of colourful beads to choose from and a few patterns. You spend about 1-2h in class, prepping the loom and getting started and you can then take the loom home ($50 deposit which you will get back once you return in within 3 weeks) with some extra beads to finish the bracelet. You can also purchase additional beads ($6.5 per bag) and the clasps. I think I found a new hobby for myself :-) Thank you very much Eslem & Rumeysa

Went with a group of 5.
Overall a great experience. Everyone had a great time.

The variety of mosaic tiles and beads could have been better.
Unfortunately we had no choice but to choose beads that were completely mixed in colour.
Also, there was not Turkish tea or sweets provided.

That aside, it was a lot of fun.
Managing my expectation of having to use mixed beads and no tea/sweets provided, i would attend again

Love the lamp that I made, incredible value for money and the facilitator was lovely.

Improvements could include better intro (welcome, my name is…, the toilets are….)
A let down for me was the absent traditional Turkish tea service and a selection of Turkish sweets promised or else I would have given it 5 stars.
Overall highly recommend.

There was just the two of us today and Semra was so welcoming and patient with us. It’s a painstaking process tracing the pattern then using the Gutta paint to outline the pencil tracing and finally adding colour. Very therapeutic and recommend it for those who like arts and crafts. A very enjoyable afternoon. The final stage is steaming to prevent discolouration in the wash which can be done at home or you can pick it up from Semra in two weeks time. Thank you!

My two friends and I decided to try this activity, and it was lovely. It was just us three, so it was small and intimate. The teacher was so kind - the session was from 6 - 8 pm, but as we were so slow, she waited behind until we were finished, which was 9 pm! We really appreciate it.

The Turkish lamp making class was great, my friends and I were supported by the teacher, and able to use templates to create a beautiful glass candle holder design. We were assisted to choose colors of beads to finish decorating the candle holder and all in all it was a great experience, I already want to come back to make a larger lamp design!

Teacher was lovely, really friendly and really helpful. A wonderful range of colours for the glass and beads. Almost too many options, if you struggle deciding on what colours to use like I did, think of where you will put it before you come so you have an idea of how it will match the environment. The instructor helps you if you get stuck too.
Be prepared to get silicone all over your hands and think about how you're going to transport the item home whilst it is drying.
Would recommend highly, a lot of fun for anyone creative and looking for a relaxed environment to craft.

The Turkish Lamp class was great. The tutor was helpful and friendly. The venue was well set up and in a convenient location (Collingwood). With the design templates provided to aid creation and the multitude of colourful mosaics and beads provided, I was delighted with my effort, so much so that I would love to do something in a similar vein on another object. The two hour class soon passed and all those who participated when home with a lovely colourful creation. (I was the only one to do a lamp. Candle holders were the other option. The teacher was absolutely lovely - but the item we specifically ordered to work on for the class wasn’t available (and this was the whole reason we booked), the selection of glass didn’t include the types of glass you would expect (mirror, clear, white). The beads were also very limited in colour and so what I ended up producing bore no resemblance to what I had thought I would be producing. The space is good, and the rest of the class were friendly, but it was disappointing.

Teacher's response

Hi Deidre,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We take your feedback seriously as we continually strive to improve our products and services. We stock over 150 colours of unique mosaic tiles, in a wide variety of opalescent, iridescent, opaque and transparent stained glass colours at our studio. We apologise that there were some limitations on this occasion.

Overall the workshop was really lovely! The glass options were endless and heaps of templates to make your own design.

The downfalls were there wasn’t much direction on how to apply the glass and where you need to start and stop for the lamp fittings to sit in place. We had to ask the questions to make sure it all worked.
You Still need to grout the piece your self as well.

There wasn’t any morning tea provided like the description said and the music was broken.
However, They were able to continue to hold the class for us as everyone else has cancelled and we were visiting from interstate, which we really appreciated !

This class was amazing. Took my sister for her Xmas present and we both came out of it with our own table lamp that we made. Materials and colours were amazing, so many colours of glass to choose from for our mosaics. The patterns on offer were also amazing. Our teacher was super helpful, with clear instructions and a lovely, inquisitive and calming nature. I highly recommend this class. Not only was it fun, it was meditative and great value for money.

Teacher very pleasant and friendly.at the beginning I would have liked to know to spread the glue over at least half the lamp bowl so that it made sticking beads easier and more evenly.
Very pleasant class and my design works well with my decor

We loved the Turkish mozaic class! Our teacher was lovely- very supportive and encouraging. Her instructions were good and she gave each person support, finding something nice to say about each person’s work. The range of options was almost overwhelming, but a great selection to choose from, giving lots of variety. Thank you ☺️

I left the workshop very satisfied with my experience

Teacher was really nice - helped us a lot. The venue was bright and suitable.
Really liked the mosaic materials and that you could take the lamp home. Because of that it was good value for money. I would have likes 30 more minutes to do a good job. If you were struggling, there was not quite enough time.

We were 2 mins late so we may have missed the intro of "this is what we are doing today" but other than that I'd recommend it and do it again!

I love the mosaic lamp I created.
The teachers were lovely. What would be great is to Include a little history of mosaic lamp creations and how it came about as an intro. Also get the attention of everyone and explain the sequence of steps, I think this was missing. Great class though, I really enjoyed it.

This was a really fun class. The group of students was quite large though, which sometimes made it difficult to hear the instructions. I arrived right on time and people had already started their mosaics, so it felt a little unstructured. I love my mosaic though and can’t wait for it to fully dry so I can assemble the lamp tomorrow

Very expensive for what it is. No instruction or guidance. Instructor was a lovely lady, however spent the entire time with the same three ladies. Not what I expected, glue only and no grout, not consistent with photos or display examples, or comments on page. Wasn’t told this until end of class.

Highly recommend this activity if you are in Melbourne - includes a yummy Turkish morning tea. The venue, with gentle music playing, was warm and welcoming. The teachers were patient and encouraging, providing plenty of materials and inspiration. As I released my inner artist, this fun morning provided some great diversional therapy and exercise in mindfulness with a very funny bunch of gals. My piece is still to be finished with plaster but so happy with my end result.

Hello, I very much enjoyed the course as it was fun to make the candle holder and do it with others.
I also enoyed having the turkish tea and sweets. The only thing I would suggest is a bit more instruction/explanation from the teacher at the start of the workshop. Eg use the sheet to map out pattern, what it looks like if it just dries with the glue, what it looks like if baked/fired, how to fully encrust the piece with the smaller beads. I felt I needed to ask these questions but it would be better if this was explained at the start or a midway point.
Apart from this the teacher was lovely and helpful when questions were asked.

I really enjoyed the class. So nice to turn up and have everything ready to go. Many colours to choose from and quite easy to do. The tea and snack was a nice touch too.

It would have been good to have more of a demo and some guidance about which patterns and colours tend to work best together. Also a bit of storytelling about the history and significance of Turkish lamps.
