3 hours Class size 1 to 4 label $190 or 4 payments of $47.50 Afterpay

Learn all about Australian opals and experience the thrill of releasing the fire within the stone in this fun and relaxing workshop in the heart of the Blue Mountains, just outside of Sydney.

In this three-hour class, which is perfect for beginners, you will choose a parcel of three genuine Australian opals, each weighing 6 to 12ct, and then try your hand at teasing out the colour and polishing them to a high shine under the guidance of a lapidary.

The class will start with a short introduction to opals including where they're found, how they're created and how to see if a stone holds any precious opal, which will help you to pick your own opals later in the class. There will be examples to look at and handle so you can gain a better understanding of which parcel of opals are valuable and have potential.

Next, you get to choose a parcel of three opals, ranging in size from 6 to 12ct. You will then learn how to polish them to a high shine and release the gorgeous fire within the stones, which takes approximately two hours for all three stones.

At the end of the class, you will take home three dazzling opals placed into a small commemorative display case.

This class is located in the heart of the stunning Blue Mountains and is perfect for anyone looking for things to do in the Blue Mountains.

Please note: Due to Covid-19, we will still be taking up to four people per workshop but everyone must be from the same family bubble.
