Learn how to make delicious, steamed bao buns and bao pockets with Angie Chong from the Humble Dumpling in Alphington.

As with many traditional Asian dishes, bao buns are made sitting around the table with family and friends, enjoying the experience of cooking together. By attending this bao bun cooking class you will experience the sense of joy and community that making Asian food can bring.

In this three-hour class, you will learn how to make bao buns and the popular bao pockets. We will also guide you on creating both a meat and a vegetarian filling. All before sitting down together to enjoy our tasty creations!

This class is appropriate for beginners and anyone eight and above. All you need is an interest and love for bao buns and pockets and an eagerness to learn how to make something new!

For Angie, cooking has always been about the sharing of food. It’s about the anticipation of sitting down together and having quality time to talk and share a meal.

Angie is daughter of Chinese cooking legend Elizabeth Chong and granddaughter to pioneering and dim-sim creator William Wing Young. She also designed Victoria’s first fully accredited Asian Cookery course at William Angliss Institute of TAFE where she taught for nearly 20 years.

Drawing on both her professional and personal background Angie delivers a workshop that is both informative and very personal.

Come and join her at her beautiful home in the kitchen of The Humble Dumpling. Workshops are hands-on and of course include sitting down at a shared table afterwards.
