My group loved this! There was enough instruction and help, without dictating what we needed to make. We are so keen to come back and try the other classes. Thank you so much for such a great arvo!
Was fantastic - great vibe, great staff, great resources. Felt comfortable and happy. Was relaxing and supportive, no judgement! Great for price and looking forward to coming again with friends. Thank you!
Teacher was amazing, Ellie remembered me from a class last year! I liked the new tools and imprint design tools now available to use, very relaxing and enjoyable, i love clay
2 years anniversaryLearnt how to throw a wheel Instructor was very nice, extremely helpful, friendly and cheery. We knew from the start that she wanted us to both have a good time.We liked having a different experience.
Had a private class for my birthday with the most wonderful guide molly, she was a constant great help and heaps of fun, class was low stress and perfect for someone at any pottery ability, thank you guys so much!!!
Molly was so kind and made for a fun evening of pottery making! Thanks for hosting a great class for beginners to try out techniques and make a cute set. Highly recommend!
The 5 week wheel throwing class was great and very useful! My pottery skills immensely improved with guidance from Jen, and I was able to take home some great pieces of mine that I never thought I would be skilled enough to create.
I booked this wheel-throwing class for my husband and me as an anniversary gift, and we had an amazing time! Our instructor was incredibly knowledgeable, giving us a clear overview before we got started and offering helpful guidance throughout the session. We learned the basics of clay and wheel throwing, shared some laughs over our wobbly creations, and genuinely enjoyed the hands-on experience.I’d absolutely recommend The Art Department to anyone looking to try pottery – whether you're a complete beginner or just keen to get your hands muddy!
I was given this experience as a birthday present and I went on my own. The group was super friendly and with only 5 of us we all got lots of help and attention from the lovely teacher Mollie. Everything is provided and clearly explained - it was super fun to create our own "works of art" and I look forward to going to pick them up!
The wheel throwing class was lots of fun we can’t wait to come back and try some other classes. Molly was a great teacher and super helpful. We picked a few cute things to buy that Molly had made and can’t wait to see how our bowls turn out. Thanks!
This was so much fun! Our teacher Molly was amazing - really explained things very well. As a first timer I needed a good teacher and I got one! Highly recommend this place!
My daughter loved the class! The instructor was friendly and approachable. Excited to pick up the end product. Look forward to what we can book in next.
We spent a delightful afternoon celebrating our sisters 60th birthday while sipping our drinks and creating masterpieces under the careful guidance of our wonderful instructors. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend our time!
The teacher was really friendly and helpful whilst giving us time to create things alone or with our plus 1. I would definitely do this again! A super cool experience
Relaxing and fun session making mugs with my son. Our teacher showed us 3 options to make simple pots/mugs and provided support when needed. The option to glaze and fire our pieces and even have them posted once complete was excellent as we are not from the area. We will be back!
My daughter and I had a delightful morning creating egg cups during a fun and educational Easter craft workshop. We learned so much about the properties of clay, and our teacher, Piper, was absolutely fantastic—she was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly patient with us as beginner potters. We especially enjoyed learning the importance of properly scoring our sections to ensure they joined together seamlessly. It was such a rewarding experience, and we would love to attend another workshop in the future!
This was a nice, rainy afternoon activity with a friend. Thoroughly enjoyed learning about techniques for creating with clay. Teachers were friendly and knowledgeable and the set up was great. Would go again!
My teacher Molly was wonderful. She gave me skills guidance without being in my face. The classroom environment is spacious and relaxed. It was so much fun. Would recommend 100%
The Clay and Sip Class is perfect for a get together with friends. Instructions for materials used were easy to follow and the teachers were wonderful and helpful. We will definitely be back for more!
This class was amazing. I finally got to do wheel throwing. I made 5 awesome pieces with the help of the teacher (so sorry I can’t remember her name) she was amazing. I will be definitely doing this again and will also consider the 5 week course that the teacher recommended. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves being creative.
Class with Molly was great!! I finally booked my 2023 Christmas present and the only regret was not to have done it earlier. So much fun. I’ll be back :) Molly was a wonderful teacher very attentive to everyone in the class. We made a few bowls and it was so hard to choose which one to keep!
We had such a great time! Very relaxing and fun atmosphere. Would 100% recommend to others. Only feedback is to inform people to arrive 15mins early for the lesson. (this might already be somewhere on the emails and we missed seeing it?)
Ellie was a wonderful teacher. She made our experience engaging, funny and so enjoyable. The whole afternoon was great and I would reccomend it for so many different occasions.
Every year my mother and I try something new as my Christmas present to her. This year we did the handmade vase class. We both agree it's one of the best experiences we have had yet! The young ladies running the course were welcoming, organised, well spoken, and more than happy to help. The space and equipment were well maintained and easy to use/access.As for design inspiration, there were plenty of options for those wanting to be brave and try something different, as well as ideas and help for those a little less confident. Personally, I was pretty nervous going in at what I would be able to create (my last experience making a vase in high school resulted in a tiny pinched pot that barely holds a thimble), but I absolutely love what I made!!!Not only will I be recommending the class to anyone who will listen, but I will also be coming back to do the 5 week course! I absolutely loved everything about the day!!
My son and I had a great time. Teacher was patient and informative and we really enjoyed ourselves. My son (12) said he wished we could give it 6 or 7 stars :)
