What you'll do
Merryl’s Mosaics is open to the public to come and make a one-off mosaic. No experience is necessary. Just book in, and come and have a fun time making a mosaic. You can make your own individual piece or collaborate on a group piece to take home, perfect if you're looking for hen's party or fun team building activities in Melbourne.
Mosaicing is creative, meditative, satisfying and enables unique expression. In this hands-on mosaic session, you will be taken through all the steps of making a mosaic.
For a one-off session, we have many smallish templates that have been created especially to enable completion in the session. Some people choose to make a larger design. If you don't complete, you can book in for another session or part thereof to continue your piece. There will be an extra charge of $22 per hour.
Choose from a wide range of products and templates ( eg picture frames, hotplates, shapes including birds, shells, seahorse, pineapple, owl, elephant, lizard and many more). Then select your glass and colour scheme. Then learn how to cut your tiles, create your design, and stick onto the board. Finally, grout your piece and take it home.
All tools and materials supplied. Specialty glass can be used if desired and purchased at the studio. However, this is not necessary.
Making a mosaic is a calming and mindful experience. This, together with being creative, social and relaxing, makes it a unique experience where you can enjoy the simple pleasure of making your mosaic.
For families coming along together:
You can attend your casual class alongside your children or other family members.
Kids eight years and above will be completely independent.
Six to seven-year-olds and under need help.
Under seven's can do another of our activities.
Bead Mosaic - this is suitable for four years and above.
All family members can work in the same space. Share this unique experience with your kids who will leave their technology at home and enjoy the moment.
Come along and experience the magic of mosaic!

My workshop today was a Christmas gift from my husband and I really enjoyed the experience. The time was 10am to 1pm but I didn’t finish my piece until 2.30pm and was not rushed at all which I really appreciated. Merryl’s workspace, materials and facilities are wonderful I plan to attend again.
Merryl was friendly and patient, and her studio is well-equipped and pleasant. Loved the mosaic I made, and am considering trying out another one of her classes.

Thank you for the mosaic class. The class was wonderful and i enjoyed it immensly. I loved working in a chilled out relaxing environment and the teachers were very helpful and friendly. I learnt the fine art of mosaic making and gathered inspiration from other artists. Plenty of tiles of different textures and colours to choose from. Thanks again,
Sally.

I have now made two pieces at Merryls Mosaics - the first in a formal class, and the second in a booked session with assistance where needed.
The studio is great - very relaxed and welcoming and there is a huge range of glass available.
I thoroughly recommend the experience!

Great venue. Great teachers. So incredibly therapeutic. Had an absolute ball. I’m not creative and can’t even draw a stick figure but pulled off a beautiful mosaic without ever having done a class prior to this one. Thank you Merryl and team at Merryl’s Mosaic

Good value for money. Great variety of materials to choose from and enough tools for everyone. The teacher, Meryl, was able to give clear instruction and individual advice; supportive without being intrusive. The atmosphere was friendly and informal, strangers quickly becoming chatty with each other. Everyone completed a piece to take home and everyone seemed very happy with their own project and admiring of others’. My friends and I enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and are genuinely pleased with the items we made. It was far more successful than anticipated for an absolute beginner like myself. I highly recommend this course.
