Love your Sunday morning Chinese dumplings but hate waiting impatiently in a queue alongside a long line of hungry people? Then this hands-on cooking workshop in Perth is for you!

Join our experienced chef for this beginners workshop in Chinese dumpling-making. You will learn techniques including making and rolling out the dumpling dough, the creation of the signature textured pork and vegetable filling, and the shaping into various shapes of Shanghai dumpling.

At our newly designed hands-on culinary workshop, all participants will team-up to pairs following the same recipes guided by our chef. You will take your dumplings and prepare them in broth with garnish and fried potsticker style, all served with various dipping sauces and garnishes.

At the end of this fun cooking workshop, you'll get to enjoy your handmade Chinese dumplings. We are fully BYO and do provide glassware if needed (for large groups we ask that you bring an Esky as fridge space is limited).

Please note: If you buy the class as a gift for someone, try to use the recipient's email when booking so that they don't miss out on important emails. If you'd prefer not to use their email, make sure you forward them all of the important information.

What you'll get

What to bring
You don't need to bring anything. We supply everything you need, including your ingredients, aprons and recipes.

Please wear flat, enclosed shoes and we recommend comfortable clothes.

All of The Cooking Professor classes are BYO (alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, water and glassware are provided)

When you join one of our cooking classes, you join a small team and everyone focuses on making a different dish under the guidance of the instructor. After preparing your dish and learning some new recipes, we all sit down to share the food in a massive feast!

Our three-hour cooking classes in Perth have you cooking for two hours in our open-plan kitchen and we keep our groups small so you get plenty of one-on-one time with the instructor to ask questions, learn tips and tricks, and of course meet new people! We also cater for groups with our Corporate and Private Events – just ask! Our experienced instructors ensure you have a fun time in your food class, regardless of your age or skill level.

I found the class was really good in that we all helped each other out. The teacher was very informative and helped out at each stage, the venue was well set out and the fact they had someone there to do the dishes after we had cooked was a bonus. My only negative about the night was the actual position of the where the class is situated, right on the corner of two busy streets and hard to find at night. Giving the clients info on exactly where to park would also be nice.

It was a great night and good experience. Mark taught us how to make Chinese Dumplings. He is a good teacher and very informative.

However, was very disappointed with the size of the class, 6 People too many to a bench Would be better if you made the classes half the size. Was disappointing no space to chop the ingredients or roll out the dough properly. It was a little rushed would've been more enjoyable if we could've had more space to prepare the Dumplings. It was nice to sit down at the end and interact with other people from the class.

I did hope the lessons would include a faster way to roll out dumpling skins, like stacking dough on top of each other and rolling multiples at one go / traditional method with a small stick like rolling pin.

And I was hoping it would touch on various ways to fold a dumpling nicer. The dumpling folds in the class were very basic.

All our classes are designed for people that are beginners to any skill level to join our classes.



We are not a formal Chinese cookery school. Our dumpling classes use a traditional dough with traditional western rolling pins.



The aim of the class is to teach those new to dumplings the basic folds, dough and filling in just a 2 hour timeframe.



The class is designed for people to take what they have learnt home and to be able to replica the techniques in their own kitchens.



So essentially it is for home cooks, not people trying to master a certain ingredient or cuisine.

I really enjoyed my dumpling class with Sunny, I can highly recommend the night for someone looking for a entertaining evening with a delicious finale. Sunny did an excellent job of demonstrating technique, whilst still ensuring everyone participated.
