What you'll do
My Chinese Ink Brush Painting workshop focuses on the foundations in traditional Chinese Painting. I will introduce history, skills and materials of traditional Chinese Painting and share how to apply basic strokes to express the elements in nature. You will complete an artwork on a mounted Chinese Paper. This is for anyone new to the art of Chinese Brush painting or for those who would like to continue their journey.
*All materials are provided.
Workshop Content:
- Draw basic Chinese calligraphic strokes
- Use various line painting techniques
- Mix tones
- Understand the meaning of the strokes
- Evaluate the structure in your artwork

Your teacher
Silka Huang is a Chinese Painting artist, specialises in landscapes and ‘flowers and birds’. She completed her Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts in Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in China on an academy scholarship.
Silka's works have featured in different exhibitions and competitions. Highlights include the Excellent Artworks Collection in XAFA, Chinese Young Artists Exhibition in 2017, and Graduates Art Fair in 2017. Her works are displayed in China, Italy and the United States of America.
She started tutoring since 2013 and held painting courses and workshops. She used to work as an art teacher at Guangzhou Guangyuan Middle School. Currently, she conducts public workshops of Chinese Painting and watercolour in Australia.
