Design Soap Making Class

Learn how to create soaps that are good for the environment and you!

3 hours Class size 1 to 4     label $200 (or 4 payments of $50 via Afterpay)

The process of soap making is fun, creative and very practical for everyday life. The handmade soaps you will make in this class are super gentle on the skin, unlike synthetic cleansers, and can be used for both the face and body. For this reason, it is especially great for people with sensitive skin, families with kids, and it makes for a special gift for family and friends!

This soap making class is made easy and fun for anyone to learn and make handmade soaps. Your first experience with our soap making class will be a healing session. You will be smelling beautiful aromas of natural essential oils, and working with natural raw ingredients with calming music.

While cold-process soap making takes years for people to learn and study (we often call it an endless journey), this three-hour class will be a doorway to this new journey for you.

During the class, you will choose one soap design to make 1kg of handmade soap (around eight to 10 slices of soap).

You will learn:

  • Basic knowledge of cold-process soap-making method.
  • Before you start making soaps, we will learn about soap making tools, how to store and cure cold process soaps, and safety guidelines first.
  • The difference between store-bought soaps and handmade soaps. You are welcome to bring or take a photo of your body or face washes to get to know more of what you’re using daily as well as the environmental effects that these are unwillingly causing.

After your soap is made in the class, it will be still in a liquid state. For soap to be solidified, and unmoulded, it will take a minimum of one to three days. After unmolding, we will dry your soap for a couple more days to allow it harden up and then slice it for you.

After this, your soap will be safely wrapped and shipped to your home, at no extra expense to you. It will take about two weeks for you to receive your soaps from the date of your class.

Once you receive the soaps, simply leave it in a shaded and well-ventilated place for a minimum of four weeks after cutting. The curing process allows the lye and water to evaporate from the soap. The result is a harder and milder soap for your skin. You will be provided with a card with clear instruction on this.

After the class, you'll also receive a workbook that contains various information about soap making including basic tools, soap making process, safety guideline, and supplier list. This information will guide you to continue making simple and basic handmade soaps at home!

Blue Earth Organics

Blue Earth Organics is a handmade soap studio that studies cold-process soap. We sell handmade soaps and open handmade soap making classes to teach you how to make soaps from home.

At Blue Earth Organics, we use organic and ethically sourced ingredients, and here’s why.

Firstly, the quality. Organically grown ingredients contain about 30 to 40 per cent more nutrition than conventionally grown ones.

Secondly, sustainability. Use of pesticides and chemical sprays kill the microorganisms and insects that keep our soil healthy and balanced. Eventually, the soil and the crops that do survive are depleted of nutrients. Organic farming methods protect the microorganisms that keep our soil healthy and fertile.

Thirdly, fair trading. There are still many supply issues in developing countries where people work in very poor conditions with a lack of working rights, minimum wages not being kept, and child labour exploitation. Fair traded products help solve this problem globally by ensuring fair prices are paid to the producers in developing countries.

We create a fun and creative class and love to connect to students by sharing handcraft together.
