This is a ClassBento virtual Video/Box class! From the comfort of your home, share an artisan experience with your friends, family or colleagues, or enjoy it yourself. Our Video/Box classes have been featured on The Guardian, TimeOut, Broadsheet, Concrete Playground, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Vogue, and more. Here's how it works:
If you're desperately in need of fun things to do at home, why not try your hand at pottery? Creating ceramics with clay hand building techniques is not only fun but very therapeutic. Plus, you will have your own beautiful ceramic to show for it!
In this online class, you will receive an email from us with three PRE-RECORDED VIDEO DEMOS to follow along with. You can choose what the final pieces will be. You can make a ceramic cup, mug or vase with the demo videos but are not limited to those designs.
We will focus on hand-building pottery techniques. I will do a step by step demonstration and by the end of the session, you will have made your own.
Please note: THIS KIT HAS BEEN UPGRADED ON 5.5.20. This pottery kit is for both AIR DRYING CLAY, for NON-FOOD pottery, such as candle holders, trinket bowls, incense burners OR you can choose to have your pottery fired at your local kiln to be used for food and can hold liquid.
AIR DRYING POTTERY: This kit includes a PVA SEALER to seal your pottery from natural elements. This is for more ornamental pottery and is NOT FOOD SAFE. This is a great choice is you don't have a local kiln or don't want to fire your clay. You can make things such as vases for dried flowers, incense burners, candle holders, ring holders...PINTEREST IS GREAT FOR IDEAS.
KILN FIRED POTTERY: The piece will need to be fired by a pottery studio who has a kiln. A bisque fire, to remove all moisture and then glazed before a final firing. The firing process will take 3-4 weeks. We can recommend local kilns in your area. Please email us with any questions regarding the glazing process.
This is a fun indoor activity, suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 10 years old). An adult must be present whilst kid(s) engage with the box.
This would also be a nice gift for her or gift for mum.
Andrea started working with clay in 2016, she now runs a small ceramics studio, Open Objects Studio. The studio is located in Botany, Sydney. Andrea is teaching virtual pottery classes online and in the studio.
Andrea's work can be found in local markets and cafes around Sydney. Andrea's work is influenced by natural landscapes and organic shapes. Her process is mindful and relaxed.
Working with clay is an experience that Andrea believes everyone will enjoy, it helps us appreciated the objects we use on a daily basis.
