This is a professional development course designed to increase your skills and routine when dialling-in espresso coffee. We will also work to improve sensory analysis of coffee, helping you to better evaluate correct extraction.

This hands-on workshop is designed for intermediate level, whether you have completed our Barista Path 1 course or if you have experience working in a cafe or an espresso serving environment. During the session, we will work with the relationship between strength and extraction and using an EK 43 Mahlkonig grinder, VST refractometer, SCA extraction numbers, and your taste buds to identify and achieve good and consistent results.

Our coffee courses are a must-do in Melbourne, providing you with the tools and expertise to level up your craft. Join us for an educational, hands-on experience and keep mastering your skills by trying, testing and clarifying everything espresso and single origin. This coffee course is intentionally run for small groups to guarantee a one-on-one learning experience - we absolutely love your questions and input!

Workshop Objectives
- Understand the relationship between strength and extraction and the impact and value of brew ratios.
- Use an EK 43 Mahlkonig grinder.
- Extract espresso using various brew ratios to show how much of strength there is compared to extraction % in the espresso.
- Use the refractometer to analytically measure an espresso TDS % to determine the strength and extraction % and measuring against CCC extraction map.

At the end of this barista course in Melbourne, you will have plenty of new skills to use in your workplace or at home! We welcome you to contact us if you wish to discuss this course or your own individual training needs further before booking. Private workshops are also available upon request.
