Learn how to grow and arrange flowers at The Oaks in Adelaide Hills

3 hours Class size 1 to 15

label $245 (or 4 payments of $61 Afterpay)

Looking for unique floristry workshops in the Adelaide Hills? Discover how to grow and arrange your own beautiful flowers with Christine and Rebecca.

Held at the beautiful heritage home of journalist and author, Christine McCabe, you'll learn how to grow and arrange all the easiest and most abundant plants for picking including tulips, ranunculus, dahlias and sweet peas.

During this lovely workshop, Christine will lead a guided tour of her garden at The Oaks with time for questions (and perhaps taking a sneaky cutting or two) and we’ll enjoy a gorgeous vintage-themed afternoon tea where even the cakes are bedecked in flowers!

What you'll learn:

  • Advice on seed sowing and propagation.
  • The fundamentals of soil conditioning, mulching, irrigation and staking.
  • All about seasonality, foliage plants, cut and come again varieties as well as annuals perennials.
  • Discussion on the importance of colour, scent, stem length and vase life.

Rebecca will demonstrate what to look for when choosing plants and help you to devise a calendar so that all those jobs get done at precisely the right time.

Of course, the whole point of a cutting garden is to bring beautiful flowers into your home. Rebecca will be leaving Robe at dawn, her truck laden with flowers from the farm, and we’ll have great fun creating our own romantic floral bouquets.

This is a small group workshop to allow for individual attention. You’ll head home inspired and informed with a lush bouquet and a generous starter kit to set you on your flower growing journey!

We are a Florist in Robe, South Australia. We do weddings, events, workshops and deliver flowers within Robe and Kingston SE.

We started planting our boutique flower farm in early 2019 and started cutting in Spring the same year. We use all the stems we grow and over time hope to only use our flowers in our floristry and flower classes. Our flower farm is in South Australia, situated on the Limestone Coast between Kingston and Robe and our Florist and Flower School is in Robe SA.

As well as the traditional favourites such as roses, sweet peas, tulips and dahlias, we grow hundreds of different flowers and are trialling new varieties to add to our collection.

We only harvest the best of what is in bloom so you get the freshest, locally grown seasonal flowers available. Focusing on heirloom and scented flowers, we are already able to offer varieties typically not available in regular florists.
