A fun, relaxed workshop with Izumi who guided us patiently through the process to ensure we created a sweet kimekomi ball!

Annette Hansen May 2026

Our teacher Izumi was well prepared with all the equipment and learning guides we needed.
There were finished samples to provide inspiration for our choice of fabrics to use on the clay balls.
Izumi took us slowly through the process of making the clay balls highlighting the materials needed and likely places we could purchase supplies. Then Izumi showed us how to cover balls with fabric pieces to make necklace attachments.
Workshop numbers we small so we were able to have a lot of help from Izumi to make a professional looking necklace.
I would recommend this class to anyone interested in Japanese craft and accessories.

I had a wonderful time at the Prototype Play workshop.
Jeff is a wonderful facilitator, he took the time to answer everyone’s questions and helped troubleshoot and made suggestions on how we could reach the goal we had in mind for our creations.
I left the workshop wanting to use the skills and ideas that I had learnt, which feels like a good indication of how enjoyable the workshop was.
If you get the opportunity to attend one of these workshops I highly recommend it.

I had a fan girl moment, attending a prototype cardboard art workshop with Jeff McCann, and it was such a fantastic day. Jeff created an inclusive, supportive environment that encouraged experimentation and creative risk taking. The workshop was inspiring, offering a wealth of practical ideas that can be easily adapted to an educational setting. It also sparked some exciting personal development plans for my own art practice. A valuable and rewarding experience.

Yoko is one of the best teacher of a practical/artistic skill I've experienced. The art of Kintsugo has its origins in ancient Zen practice, we worked with Yoko to repair and decorate a small broken dish, we all completed the repair and decoration as if time had stood still. I am confident that I can now repair and decorate other broken items and apply things I practiced in class. Ive set up a cosy corner for my Kintsugo kit, excited to get going. Yoko was clear, focussed, engaging and entertaining. I totally recommend Yoko's class - the Japanese Art Kintsugi Ceramic Repair Workshop.

I went to Corey’s zine making workshop today and absolutely loved it. I came away feeling informed, inspired and genuinely educated about the history of zines, as well as completely free to make whatever I wanted. Corey brings such clarity, warmth and a beautiful steady pace to the session. They are incredibly well informed and create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome to explore, play and experiment.
I made a simple folded zine using old sheet music and drew over the top. It was such a gentle and enjoyable way to reconnect with my creative instincts. The group itself was really lovely, inclusive and kind. People shared openly, supported one another, and the whole room felt generous and safe.
I would recommend this workshop to anyone in the queer community, whether you are brand new to zines or have years of experience. If you want to learn, play, connect and discover zine making in a fresh way, this is a beautiful place to start.
