A fibre artist, designer, teacher, and history nut, I am fascinated by all forms of colour and pattern in daily life as an expression of culture and identity.

I love teaching and sharing what I know, helping people to stretch their skills, and create new experiences.

As a teacher with 30 years experience, I get a real buzz when a student who hasn't tried a specific craft before - not only masters it, but becomes excited by the ways they can use their new skill.

I started in Jewellery design when I was in my early 20's, then discovered that all the things I love to do (design, dye, draw, felt, paint, etc) could be used in the practice of 'Free Form or Surface Embroidery'.

I taught the 'Foundation course' in Colour & Design at the International School of Colour & Design.

I am a published textile designer & also run week-long textile experiences in Tasmania every January.
I have exhibited many of my pieces in a variety of spaces & had one piece auctioned off to raise money for the Embroiderers Guild of NSW.

My influences come from various parts of history both ancient and modern, and the natural world.

I bring all of these experiences & interests to my teaching of Free Form Embroidery & encourage students to explore the potential of this art form.
The same can be said of my other media I practise - wirework, up-cycling clothing & free form crochet + knitting.

Participated in the beginners hand embroidery workshop with Narda Campbell and had a great time. We were taught the fundamentals of different stitches which set up the basis for practically any embroidery design. We were taught good technique and also posture, as well as a bit of history around embroidery and uses of the stitches. Narda created little beginners kits for us with useful handouts, different coloured floss, a vial of needles, and other great supplies. Everything we needed to participate was supplied during the workshop, and she also prepared a gorgeous little cake and tea for us to enjoy together. The venue was easy to find and pleasant to work in: calm, cosy, well lit, and nice atmosphere. Narda herself was kind, funny, patient, and obviously passionate about her crafts, and was inspiring. I left the workshop so excited about designing some projects for myself. Really glad I came along to this and would highly recommend to others!

This embroidery class was lovely. It was an unexpected intimate one-on-one workshop with Narda where I learnt the basics of embroidery at her beautiful home. The time really flew by and it often felt more like friends having a chat over tea, brownies, and crafting than a strict lesson. Narda was very patient and her passion for all things crafty was apparent from the outset. Her examples of different techniques and displays of her own works was extremely helpful as a beginner as I learn best visually and was able to not only see but also touch the patterns with my hands to analyse the way it was done. Wonderful teacher and workshop; would highly recommend for anyone who learns better in less structured, more free-form lessons. Thank you Narda!

Super easy to get to from the station and straight away you receive all the embroidery gear you need. After that you learn a wide array of stitches which are taught very clearly and with that and the handy information pack you are given you will have all the tools you need yo get started on embroidering pretty much anything you want. Narda is a lovely teacher who is happy to revise any details as many times as you need and has a wonderful selection of teas to be paired with dessert.
