Here's Looking at You Kid is a family run small batch distillery, creating spirits inspired by the charm and romance of Casablanca.

Our Master Distiller, Liz Beech, has a passion for all things food and beverage. Liz began her journey as a chef and pioneer of the Melbourne food truck revolution before heading to North America to develop her passion for booze. Whilst there, she partook in internships with Jim Beam, Maker's Mark and Corsair. Liz then graduated from the Moonshine University in Kentucky specialising in Distilling, Vodka, Gin, Whiskey, Bourbon, Rum & Botanicals, before returning to Australia.

Here's Looking at You Kid uses native botanicals with our Copper Pot Still, Eliza, to produce a range of Gin and Vodka, including Australia's best vodka as voted by Broadsheet.

Currently located in Melbourne's Bayside, our distillery will soon move to North Melbourne offering tastings of the Here's Looking at You Kid range as well as masterclasses with our Master Distiller to make your very own bottle of Gin!

Great and very informative workshop. I was fascinated with the whole experience as I never knew that a lot of healthy botanicals were used in gin making. We all had a lot of botanicals in front of us to choose in order to make our very own, and unique taste of gin. A very warm welcome by the teacher, and her assistant, we enjoyed tasty cheese and fruit platters, accompanied by the very unique flavours of their own gin. 10 out of 10 for the whole experience!
We all had time to ask questions, and Liz did her best to answer all our questions, and satisfy our curiosity. Thank you very much for this great experience!

The information on how gin and other spirits are distilled was very interesting and informative, as was the gin tasting and explanation on flavour combinations.
As for the gin making, I thought it could have been more hands on. Eg. we could have filtered and rebottled our own gin then bagged them ourselves instead of just sitting there waiting. Although we got to choose our own botanicals, we had no control on which was to be the star ingredient and flavour of our gin, that was determined for us. Overall an interesting peek into the world of gin making.

Thoroughly enjoyed this masterclass. It was an excellent mix of learning about the bigger process of distilling (including seeing the big still that had been brought out from the USA) and being involved in selecting our own botanicals to be used in our own little distilling process. It was great to produce our own blend and be able to take that home. The teacher Liz and trusty partner/assistant Nev were friendly, knowledgeable and very happy to answer our many and varied questions. Definitely happy to recommend this class to others.

This class was informative and fun. Liz was outstanding with her knowledge on all things gin (and more) lol. A refreshing gin and tonic on arrival and then upstairs for the fun part of botanical knowledge. Liz provided a yummy nibble tray of cheese, fruit and crackers whilst we waited for our distillery to complete its process. Can’t wait to taste my gin with chosen botanicals in the next couple of weeks.

Liz has been such a gracious host keeping a total of 8 of us under control on her own - especially with me asking so much questions around the process and her setup!

I love her setup of the mini stills and how she showed us the different layers coming through the bottle and it was fascinating to see how each still was different with their own quirks.

Liz has been entertaining and the complimentary share platters really went well with the evening! Well worth the price, loved the ambience of the venue/workshop area and loved how Liz informed us about everything along the way!

Our Gin master class teacher was very knowledgeable & I really enjoyed learning about the distilling process. It was great to be able to select our own aromats to formulate our own unique gin to take home! There was also a lovely cheese & fruit platter to enjoy while we sampled all the different Gin varieties under her label.
This was all delivered in a relaxed & informal home like environment. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our experience, Liz was very knowledgeable, gave lots of great information, and there was a fantastic range of gins for tasting (our favourite was the Christmas gin). Our only down side was that we weren't as involved in the making process as we thought we could be, but also understand this is likely due to licencing around production/sale of alcohol. But still a very nice way to spend an evening.

Liz from Here's Looking At You Kid was an awesome host and teacher! We loved doing her Gin Making Masterclass. The location is super cute and in a beautiful building, Liz is informative and her passion for distilling comes through in the way she can speak about the whole process, we found it really informative. Getting to make our own bottle of gin was a beautiful touch and something we'll treasure forever! The experience itself is so fun from a drink on arrival, a cheese plate to share, making and learning about gin to then taste testing Liz's own creations, we all left saying how much fun we had. I attended the class with the goal of understanding how distilling works and the peculiarities of gin in particular. The room is well prepared for a class and allows a good visualization of the distilling process.

This was amazing. A great way to spend a Sunday. Liz was a great host and knows her stuff. The venue was well setup and a joy to be in. The individual gin making kit worked perfectly and gave enough time to make observations and ask lots of questions. The cheese board was to die for. All up I would do it again in a heartbeat. Well worth it. Gin is not my thing and it was still a great day.

I had a great class crafting my own gin. I wasn't sure how it was going to work, but it was even more legit than I expected - greeted with a G&T, getting to choose our own botanicals, and then having our own mini stills that distill our unique gin throughout. The space is really lovely, and the snacks and hospitality were great too.
