If you love Indonesian food, why not take a trip to Bali with our hands on Indonesian cooking class.

Enjoy a drink on arrival and then get ready to learn a few local Balinese recipes. Led by an expert Otao chef you'll learn how to replicate Balinese cooking techniques and make delicious Indonesian dishes using locally sourced ingredients.

This cooking class is a fun mix of cooking demonstrations and making time. Working in a social environment you'll learn about the essential ingredients to use in Indonesian cooking and how to use the right spices and bring out the best flavours. Everyone will sit down for a group meal at the end and enjoy with a glass or wine or a beer.

Sample menu:
- Balinese Chicken Satay and Peanut sauce
- Beef Rendang: Slow cooked beef curry 
- Spiced fish in banana leaves
- Stir-fry water spinach or GadoGado
- Yellow rice, coconut, turmeric

Whether an individual indulgence, a couples’ bonding experience, fun family activity, corporate team building or private group cooking, this class is guaranteed to treat your taste buds while expanding your culinary skills.

On the day:
Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start time of the class. We cannot accommodate or refund for those who arrival after the scheduled start time, even if you call ahead. The instructor will be expected to start on time and will not be able to repeat the health and safety and/or demonstrations at the beginning of the class.

Important info:
We can cater to different dietary requirements. If you need to cancel or reschedule a booking you must do this at least seven days before your class to cancel or reschedule. We are sorry that we cannot refund or rebook any cancellations made online or in person after this time. In the event that you are unwell we ask that you send someone in your place. The participants who are not unwell will still be expected to attend. Alternatively, if you provide notice prior to the class, you are welcome to collect the ingredients and online recipe to take home with you after the class. Please note that this may not be possible as fresh meats and seafoods in all cases.

Chef Hà Nguyen began his career in Hanoi local restaurants and the Hilton Opera Hotel before travel, study and work in Wellington, New Zealand –New Zealand Diploma in Cookery and Bachelor in Hospitality Management at Wellington Institute of Technology. Chef Hà has started with Intercontinental Hotel Wellington, working with Twelve Apostles Lodge Walk developing menu for Alkina Lodge along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, delivering nourishing and fresh menus to clients.

He believes that cooking, eating and sharing should be an experience, not just a meal. He created OTAO Kitchen as an extension of his passion for food and to share this passion with others. Food plays an important role in his Vietnamese culture heritage and is central to his family life. Sharing a meal with family and loved ones is a traditional and happy experience. He wishes to extend this experience to you and welcome you to OTAO Kitchen.
