Introduction to Pottery Wheel Class

Learn how to make pottery on the wheel

2 hours Class size 1 to 2 label $120 (or 4 payments of $30 via Afterpay)

We have two pottery wheels, in this pottery class you will get the one on one attention needed for wheel throwing.

This class will introduce you to 'throwing' (making) pottery on the wheel. This class is designed to get a feel for the overall process of wheel throwing, not to make a masterpiece, yet! Wheel throwing takes practice and patience. This class will teach you the skills you need to start practicing. I will do a step by step demonstration on how to use the wheel and make a pot on the wheel with details, tips and tricks. Wheel throwing is detailed, having a private class insures you will get the right amount of attention and instructions you need.

The final result will be different depending on the skill level. We will aim to make a functional piece at the end of each class.

This class is great for date night, birthday gifts or just a chance to learn something new.

Andrea started working with clay in 2016, she now runs a small ceramics studio, Open Objects Studio. The studio is located in Botany, Sydney.

Andrea's work can be found in local markets and cafes around Sydney. Andrea's work is influenced by natural landscapes and organic shapes. Her process is mindful and relaxed.

Working with clay is an experience that Andrea believes everyone will enjoy, it helps us appreciated the objects we use on a daily basis.

I had such a great lesson with Andrea, it was so enjoyable and I'll definitely attend more of her classes in the future.
Andrea was so clear and uncomplicated in her instructions, there was so much to think about and it was great to not be overwhelmed with information but just gently guided and encouraged!
The venue was lovely, small but practical and perfect for teaching small groups in which Andrea can give everyone the time and attention they need.
All materials and equipment provided seemed of good quality and everything was clean and well maintained.
The class was good value for money and I came away feeling I had learnt the basics and beginnings of the pottery wheel (now, to master them!). Thanks again, Andrea!

My Wife and I enjoyed a wonderful 2hr introduction to pottery session with Andrea a week ago. Andrea welcomed us with some light refreshments which was unexpected and most appreciated. The studio was warm and inviting and the individual attention provided to us by Andrea was extremely helpful while we had fun creating our first masterpieces. We had an absolute blast and look forward to booking future classes.

A pottery wheel class for two in an artists' warehouse in Marrickville; all materials were provided and the teacher demonstrated the wheel, explained the steps and then coached us to make some pieces on our own. So much fun!

We had a wonderful class with Andrea. She was patient, kind, creative, encouraging and very good with my ten year old daughter. She found the right balance of teaching, coaching and helping and bringing her own practice, experience and curiosity into play. I would really recommend.
