Description

Learn Japanese calligraphy with Tomoko! Come and experience the art and enjoyment of writing Kanji (Japanese characters) with brush and ink. Tomoko will show you how to create several characters, and teach you the meaning and method for each Shodo. You will learn basic calligraphy skills, and practice writing simple Kanji or their favourite Japanese word. Perhaps you'll discover your passion for calligraphy! Take your final artwork home with you.

Great for both individuals and groups. If you have an interest in Japanese culture, or you like calligraphy or trying new kinds of art, then you'll probably love this workshop! Each student in each class will make their own artworks.

This class is popular for individuals and couples as well as for a hens party, special occasion, team building activity, baby shower, birthday, bucks party, corporate event or Christmas party.

This class is available on Request for groups of 2+.

Don't have a group of 2+ students? If you're happy to pay a higher price per person (total of $90 for the class), you can just Request to book this class for 2 students (and attend with fewer guests).

I'm a Japanese calligraphy artist and teacher based around Sydney and the Central Coast.

I love sharing Japanese culture through my passion for calligraphy and the beauty of the Japanese aesthetic. I love talking to people about this unique art-form, and I always engage my students in my own love for the act and art of calligraphy.

My calligraphy has been used in various advertisements for clients such as Opera Australia, Japan Airlines in Australia, as well as for restaurants, accommodation, and on various products, such as sake labels in Japan. I have also performed small and big brush calligraphy at festivals and galleries in Japan and Australia.

I have conducted calligraphy workshops in schools and various venues in Sydney, the Central Coast and Melbourne, as well as giving demonstrations at karate dojos and at marketing events for private companies.

If you have any interest in Japanese culture, or in trying new kinds of artwork, you might love my workshops! I look forward to meeting you : )
