I really enjoyed the class; it was both more simple and more complex than I expected. I think for a small, one off, evening class I learned a lot and it was nice to have something at the end to keep.

My friend Ruby and I had the best time at the Leadlight Panel workshop. Lesley was such an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher, creating a space where we felt completely safe to experiment and make mistakes -which you inevitably will when trying something new!
The class was well structured, clearly explained and easy to follow, while still giving us plenty of freedom to express ourselves by choosing our own glass, colours, text and textures. By the end, everyone had created a beautiful leadlight panel, and every single piece looked outstanding!
I absolutely loved the experience, and it has definitely given me the bug to make more!

Lesley was such a great teacher and we had an excellent time in her workshop. She kept all of us newbies on track with excellent technical advice and help, and we all walked away with our own panels. She warned us in advance that making with glass is addictive - and I suspect her workshops are contributing... Highly recommend!

I learnt so much from Suzi about painting on glass such as stains, brushes, design details, wh&s. I would have loved to learn more about the firing process. Suzi has excellent knowledge and was so kind in sharing so much knowledge in our limited time.

My third time doing this class and it seriously does not get better than this. Lesley is an absolute legend, exceptionally knowledgeable, and very helpful throughout the workshop.
The panels are absolutely gorgeous and there are many designs to choose from. It’s always such a wonderful atmosphere and I absolutely cannot recommend this class enough!

Fun, interesting and challenging enough to feel a great sense of accomplishment when complete, this class was wonderful.
Lena was endlessly knowledgeable, encouraging and most of all patient, even when my design choices turned out to be wildly beyond my capabilities! From glass cutting to copper foiling, through soldering and polishing, she helped my wife and I complete our work and wind up with beautiful handmade pieces we’ll use for years to come.

Fae Noor Attended Jun 2026

I’ve always been fascinated by stained glass art.
The glass cutting, the soldering, the way light passes through coloured glass—there’s something incredibly soothing about it. So while I was in Melbourne, I signed up for a 4-hour stained glass workshop through ClassBento.
And my god, it was amazing.
What looks effortless from afar is actually quite challenging. We learned how to cut glass, grind the edges smooth, wrap each piece in copper foil, burnish it, apply flux, solder everything together, then clean and finish the piece. Every step required patience and precision.
My teacher, Fiona, was wonderful. Passionate, knowledgeable, chatty, and genuinely excited about sharing her craft. The kind of teacher who makes you feel comfortable trying, making mistakes, and learning along the way.
Somewhere during the soldering process, I accidentally created a decorative solder line and decided it was a feature, not a mistake
The diamond design was actually the standard template given to all beginners, so I can’t take credit for choosing it. Halfway through, though, I realised it looked suspiciously like a berry danish. Which means there’s a very real possibility this ends up hanging at OFFSET Café as stained glass pastry art.
I left with a piece I made with my own hands and a much deeper appreciation for the skill, patience, and artistry behind every stained glass work. Seeing my finished piece catch the light for the first time was incredibly rewarding—a small reminder of how satisfying it is to create something beautiful from scratch.

The class was an absolute delight, I had no experience and a lot of apprehension but Fiona’s love of the craft made her an amazing teacher and mentor through the day. It’s a huge amount to learn in a day and I will be thinking about it every time I look at my piece! Can’t wait to try another class soon

Our group of 4 had an amazing time learning the basics about copper foil stained glass. Fiona was an excellent teacher with a very calm, patient energy, and her explanations of every step of the process were really easy to understand. We learned to cut glass, grind the edges, apply copper foil, solder and polish (and how to be safe while working with glass).
We loved rummaging through the glass boxes to pick the colours/patterns to use on our suncatchers!
Fiona was super encouraging and supportive of everyone's artistic choices.
The workshop space was also super well organised and tidy!
Such a cool experience and I am so in love with my little sun catcher.

We had the most incredible time at this leadlight workshop! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of creativity. It was such a unique experience to step away from the usual routine and try something completely hands-on and artistic together.
The instructor was absolutely fantastic—patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the craft. They guided us through each step with just the right balance of support and encouragement, making the process feel both achievable and rewarding (even for complete beginners like us!).
Working side by side with my partner made it even more special. There was something really meaningful about creating something from scratch together—choosing our designs, learning new skills, and seeing our pieces come to life. It felt like a perfect mix of fun, relaxation, and connection.
We left not only with beautiful leadlight pieces we’re so proud of, but also with such a memorable shared experience. Highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking for a creative date idea or just wanting to try something new—you won’t regret it!

This was Adrian's third time doing this class

Fiona is a great teacher. She has given me many pointers and tips to help in learning better skills with copper foiling.
She was teaching me to improve my soldering techniques and to make the project stronger.
I learned about using tin plated copper wire to reinforce the edges and junctions of the projects that we are working on
I would never have started and continue doing copper foiling if it wasn’t for the encouragement and learning of all the basic skills that Fiona has taught.
Many thanks
Adrian

Lena was very kind and helpful, demonstrating each step clearly for us and talking us through what she did. She was very hands on and always ready to answer any question, check what you had made or give advice for improvement.
We started with just a clear piece of glass to try using the different tools and get a feel for it all before starting on our own piece. There was many different textures and colours for us to pick for our piece.
When my original class had to be changed she was very accomodating in helping me to still make a tealight holder instead of a picture frame.
I would love to do another workshop with Lena in the future :)
