A fun hands-on class where you'll learn to make chocolates, in a real chocolate factory. This class is only for private groups!

The children will experience the magic of creating personalized chocolates with their own hands. This is an ideal party activity as the kids will not only end up with chocolate on their faces but also their own chocolates to take home – if they last that long!

The experience begins with a brief history of chocolate, then a chocolate tasting to taste the difference between compound and couverture chocolate. Then onto the best part - diving into the actual chocolate making! The kids will make their own moulded chocolate, with each child choosing from an array of fun moulds. A special box is given to each chocolate maker so they can package their creations to take home. They'll be guided by our chocolatier, though they'll also have space to indulge their creativity and imagination.

While we wait for the chocolate to set, the kids will be shown how to dip and decorate marshmallows and Turkish Delights. They'll demonstrate their artistic talents with piping bags.

We recommend at least one or two adults to come along to share the joy (of herding the kids, and of the workshop itself ;) ). Older kids (eg high school age) will enjoy this class too. The class content and teaching style will be adjusted to suit the age of the participants.

And if you'd like to share a birthday cake during the class, we can make time and space for that too. This class can also be held at a location of your choice (extra fee will apply).

Aside from this class, this teacher also has the following coming up:

This class is available on Request for groups of 10+.

Don't have a group of 10+ students? If you're happy to pay a higher price per person (total of $750 for the class), you can just Request to book this class for 10 students (and attend with fewer guests).

Chocolatier since 1994

My name is Joseph, and I started Kimberley Chocolates to produce high quality chocolates in Sydney. I held a BSc in Food Science, and wanted to make great chocolate more accessible to our community, including by combining it with flavours like chilli, lemon myrtle, and quandong (Australia's 'native peach'). Kimberley Chocolates won the gold award at the Royal Easter Show Chocolate Competition, and I started to appear on the media more often. People started contacting me to learn more about chocolates, and I realised that there is a great need for chocolate education, and that's where our chocolate workshops started.

I also spent some time in the laboratories of perfume houses before, where I gained some interesting skills in fragrance making, which I love to share.

My teaching style is playful and fun, and very hands on - the more sampling and laughing that happens, the better!

My daughter’s 12th birthday party at Kimberley Chocolates was a great success. The kids enjoyed making their chocolates and freckles and were delighted with being able to take their creations (over 20 of them!) home. Joseph was a lovely and patient host.

We organised a birthday for our eleven year old with 6 of her friends. Joseph was brilliant , entertained the girls solidly for two hours and chocolates were fantastic. A very happy afternoon.
