What you'll do
Join Made By Me Workshop for the most fun you can have getting your hands dirty and create your own Japanese inspired moss ball known as a Kokedama!
These unique creations have been made for over 400 years and are made by binding together the root ball of a living plant with a special mix of soil and moss that is held together with string.
Your Kokedama does not need to be planted or put into a pot, you can hang them, sit them on a plate or in a bowl, they make a lovely decorative feature within your home and an ideal gift for someone special.
What you will learn:
- How to create the perfect mix of soil for your moss ball.
- How to wrap create your moss ball.
- How to care for your kokedama and ensure a long life for your plants.
We will provide everything you need to create three separate moss balls including a selection of seasonal plants, soil mix, moss and string as well as gloves (if you really don't like getting your hands too dirty!).

Made by Me Workshop is about helping people to connect with their "inner creative" and have some fun while making beautiful things from quality materials in our friendly & vibrant studio space in the heart of the inner west!
Established in 2017 after Rebecca Doyle decided to take a career break and chose to revisit her childhood love for arts & crafts. Rebecca grew up in a large family where money was tight, after school activities where mostly homegrown and usually involved a sheet of cardboard, a glue stick and some glitter! It is probably no surprise to learn that Rebecca followed a creative path to study Fashion & Textile Design at University!
After a few more decades (than Rebecca will publicly admit to) and a long and varied career in the fashion industry, Rebecca wanted to get back to creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind objects - Made By Me Workshop is the result of where this path led.
Rebecca loves that moment of pride that comes over each participant's face when they look at what they have created and say to themselves "Wow - I made this & I love it!"
