What you'll do
Always wanted to learn how to smoke the perfect brisket? This American BBQ class is perfect for anyone who wants to create classic American flavours in their own home!
This casual and hands-on bbq cooking class is ideal for beginners. The class will begin with a complimentary drink as you learn the slow cooking method of the authentic Southern-style smokey barbecue. You’ll be taught how to prepare delicious marinades and rubs to really bring out the flavour of the meat.
This is a fun and casual class hosted by friendly and entertaining chefs; the perfect social activity for a catch-up with friends, a bucks weekend or your next corporate cooking class.
Have a great time while enjoying an authentic American BBQ feast accompanied by American beer and take with you all the new skills and knowledge to throw an amazing BBQ party at home.
Menu:
- Texas Style Angus Beef Brisket, dry rubbed and smoked for 12 hours.
- Meaty Kansas-style ‘American’ pork ribs, basted with your own home made sticky BBQ sauce and slowly smoked to perfection.
- The iconic and quintessential Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich with slaw – tender pork shoulder which has been smoked for 12 hours, served on a brioche bun with American style apple & cabbage slaw.
- Smokey Cedar Plank Atlantic Salmon fillet.
Once the hard work is done, we’ll all sit down and enjoy a wonderful meaty spread... And it wouldn’t be an All Star, All American BBQ without of course some authentic American Beer! Enjoy the casual and social atmosphere of our alfresco BBQ Classes at Sydney Cooking School.
Learn the tips and tricks from our BBQ experts before practicing your newfound skills yourself on the BBQ. Our cooking classes are kept friendly and small to ensure everyone get the most out of their lesson. Taught by approachable and entertaining chefs in a relaxed and social environment, a weekend or evening BBQ class is a fabulous and unique activity to take by yourself or with some friends! We look forward to smoking out the house with you and enjoying an American BBQ feast!
Classes are held primarily various weekends 10:30amam-1:00pm OR various weeknights from 6pm or 6:30pm-8:30pm
Please note: Sydney Cooking School (SCS) reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a class for reasons concerning SCS. If a class has been cancelled due to low attendance, sickness or any other matter regarding SCS, all students will be notified within 48 hours of the class commencement date, and the option to reschedule to another date, or full refunds provided.

Sydney Cooking School opened in 2010 when Executive Chef Brett Deverall pursued his dream to share his love andpassion of cooking in a fun and relaxed learning environment. Offering a range of cooking classes daily, our Neutral Bay venue is fitted with state of the art appliances and equipment from Fisher & Paykel, Breville and Anolon.
Our experienced and passionate team take pride in teaching practical, entertaining and informative cooking classes or hosting your next event.
We have a variety of themed menus and packages available, and our formats are suitable to anyone, from the absolute beginner to the more passionate cook. As well as our regularly scheduled classes, we offer masterclasses in Pastry, Chicken & Duck and Pork & Cider, as well as Children’s School Holiday classes.
If you prefer to be out of the Kitchen join us in our fabulous BBQ area for one of our Popular BBQ classes – Things really heat up in these classes so ensure you dress comfortably.
