What you'll do
Learn how to make kombucha and apple cider vinegar at this fun and practical evening class in Sydney. You will finish the class with your own flavoured bottle of kombucha and apple cider vinegar, Â along with a scoby to make your own at home.
This class is perfect for beginners, as you will learn all the steps to make fantastic ferments, as well as the impressive health benefits of enjoying fermented food and drinks which includes digestion and enhanced immune function.
During the class your instructor will take you through:
- Safe brewing techniques and sterilisation
The two fermentation methods: batch and continuous
Making your first batch
The first stage of fermenting (knowing when it’s ready to harvest)
The second stage of fermenting (tailor to your needs or just for taste)
Creating a fizz (and avoiding explosions)
Care for the scoby (maintaining and storing)
Storing bottled Kombucha
After the kombucha class, you will take home your own flavoured creation in a 300ml bottle of Kombucha ready for the second fermentation, plus a 2-litre jar full of the good stuff, along with a scoby, Â aa 750ml jar of apple cider vinegar and notes to complete at home.Â
Please note: This course uses tea, sugar (that gets consumed during the fermentation), scoby (a symbiotic colony of friendly bacteria and yeast) and a range of seasonal fruits / vegetables ingredients. We are not able to provide substitute ingredients for people with allergies.

Amanda Muir owns and operates Cheriss – a brand making Kombucha and Kefir in Sydney. She established this business after a health issue that led her to research the connection between gut health and our general wellbeing, and the role Kombucha and other fermented products can play in that.
Previously Amanda worked as a District Sales Manager, where she developed her experience in corporate training.
Her presentation style is to deliver practical, fun and hands-on learning experiences.
