What you'll do

Learn the essentials of fondant cake decorating in this creative Sydney class that will boost your confidence when making your own cake! You will even take home your elegantly decorated cake.

This class is perfect for beginners as your instructor will reveal the secrets to achieving a smooth finish with fondant and ganache when decorating a cake. You will specifically learn how to colour your own fondant, prepare and sandwich a mud cake with ganache, smooth and finish your icing, and tips and tricks for cake presentation.

Your instructor will take you through the class step-by-step, starting with smoothing the fondant over a seven-inch mud cake. You can then take creative control when decorating your sweet-art by producing your own simple fondant flower and leaf decorations under instruction.

At the end of the class, you will be able to take home your personalised chocolate mud cake and leave behind the fear of cake decorating!

Qualifications

Bachelor of Fine Arts (UNSW) Diploma of Fine Arts (TAFE)

Amber Subaki is an artist, illustrator and cake decorator. With over 10 years of experience working in the disability sector, including five years teaching art, Amber has a nurturing and inclusive teaching style. Her passion for cake deorating began 12 years ago when she became a mother. As an artist working in the fine detail of ink illustration, cake decorating was a natural transition to a fun hobby and side business.

She finds teaching cakes decorating to be a rewarding experience as it “gives people the confidence to create their own masterpieces at home with minimal equipment”.
