Class sizes are kept small, so you can easily ask questions and get immediate responses. Zoom is free and easy to use, on any device - smartphone, tablet or laptop. You're in control of your privacy - you can mute yourself and hide your webcam if and when you prefer.

Grab a buddy and a beverage (totally optional) and settle into a cozy Saturday afternoon, learning how to make your very own hand-stitched Coptic bound book!

Coptic binding is a quick and easy type of binding where the book lays completely flat when open. It also shows off the beautiful spine and colourful threads holding the signatures (page groupings) together.

In this live online class, you can choose whether you want to stitch in some paper paraphernalia - think; ticket stubs, photos (on paper), receipts, travel brochures etc. - or just create a plain journal for yourself or a loved one. Books make great gifts!

Join this two-hour class to learn what a signature is, how the heck to use a curved mattress needle, and some Coptic stitch tips and tricks. All will be revealed!

You will finish the class with an A6 pocket-sized Coptic bound book.

Are you a paper hoarder? Do you collect ticket stubs, brochures, bits of pretty wrapping paper that you can't bare to throw away? Is it all piling up in a shoebox under your bed, like me?

I learnt how to bookbind at Glasgow School of Art 10 years ago, and since then have taught the odd workshop here and there - at Koskela in Rosebery, as part of Art & About Sydney and with Work-Shop in Redfern.

My day job is within the arts & cultural sector, in leadership development and capacity building. I love working with people, and have previously worked across festivals and galleries around the world, including the Tate in London.

These workshops have brought me so much joy during lockdown, so I thought it'd be fun to have a go at sharing my skills in bookbinding online for anyone interested in learning! I'd love to meet you, share a story and a beer, and get all those paper bits and bobs mentioned above consolidated into your very own hand-bound book.

I look forward to meeting you!
