Description

Transform a block of clay into a teapot with pottery master Marion, who has ten years' experience in the field, has made various television appearances and is a member of the acclaimed collective ‘Bundeena Maianbar Art Trail’.

Learn hands-on techniques such as pinching and coiling to create your own unique teapot in this fun and stress-free workshop. Take some time for yourself, in the tranquil and scenic surrounds of Bundeena, as a form of art therapy. You'll get to keep your fully functional teapot - something to treasure for years or even generations to come! You'll get to apply your personal touch, such as choosing a glaze colour. And don't worry, your teapot will be 100% food safe and suitable for tea brewing.

Here are just a few things you'll cover:

• Overview of different clay types and their uses.
• Hand building techniques for shaping clay.
• Assembling different clay components.
• How and why are ceramics glazed and fired.

Make a day of it while you're here - visit one of Bundeena's pristine beaches or do a bush/coastal walk.

This class is regularly scheduled on weekends at 10:00am via the Book option. If you would like to book on a weekday, please use the Request Custom Event option.

Regular classes can have up to 5 students; however Something At Mary's Pottery Classes can cater for up to 20 students for special events.

Having studied art therapy my philosophy on teaching pottery is that it should be fun and easy so you can expect lots of humour and laughter at one of my sessions.

I've been teaching pottery for more than a decade and have had television appearances on both Channels 7 & 9.

I'm a member of the acclaimed Bundeena Maianbar Art Trail which features many well known artists including Archibald winners.

Really fun! We didnt know anything about pottery and made some fun designs. The teacher was great at giving us ideas at what was possible and what doesnt work so well, then let us make our own design. The pace was great- not too fast not too slow. The price is high compared to the movies or dinner, but there is painting and firing that happens after you finish so take that into account. Its a great special occasion or occasional activity. Nice little garage full of pottery to look at and copy, and i got a cup of tea included which was nice. I would defs go back again

Fun and interactive workshop. Marion was very accomodating. Would be nice if we could choose more colours/mix colours.

Mary-an was a really patient and informative. She was also very generous and made us feel right at home! Making the teapot was also really fun and therapeutic. The studio is also very close to the beach.
