Learn how to set up a vanilla cake layered and enclosed with buttercream in this hands-on class in Sydney.

During this hands-on class, you'll be taken through various types of buttercreams. You will learn how to cut, stack, fill and frost a round cake with a smooth buttercream to achieve sharp and clean looking sides and edges. Then you will move on to learn an easy way to create the horn and ears from fondant and how to apply a streak-free gold food colour.

You will be taken through various types of buttercreams including all recipes, how to colour buttercream and basic piping techniques to decorate your cake. Lastly, you will add facial expressions and sprinkles to decorate the cake.

At the end of this class, you will leave knowing all about buttercream, basic piping techniques and the essential skills on how to layer and set up a cake as well as how to make fondant decorations. The learning outcomes from this design will enable you to create many other cakes including a rabbit, fox, dog, horse, Rudolf just to name a few.

And of course, you will leave the class with your own delicious rainbow unicorn cake to enjoy!

Award-winning cake artist Anna Maria Roche has well over 25 years of industry experience. Trained as a qualified chef/pastry chef she worked for some of Sydney’s top hotels and cake shops, designing and creating cakes for people from all walks of life.

Anna Maria was involved in several best selling cake-decorating books and her work has been featured in many magazines. She also was involved in the popular Lifestyle Channel TV series, “Planet Cake”.
Anna Maria has successfully taken part in many prestigious cake competitions and has won many awards.

In October 2013 Anna Maria founded her own business, “Anna Maria Cake Design”. Besides designing and creating gorgeous cakes, she creates tutorials for companies to promote their cake decorating supplies and equipment.

She conducts private lessons and teaches at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu and other private institutions across Australia and overseas. She is very proud to see how her students' individual journeys have progressed. Many have gone on to have successful businesses of their own in Australia and overseas. Anna Maria looks forward to sharing her skills with you!
