Painting is a wonderful form of meditation where you can lose yourself and the concept of time. Join Slow Life Workshops for their calming realism painting workshop and learn new skills from a friendly professional.

This workshop is designed for beginners, experienced or advanced painters. You will learn to draft a still life image into a composition using photographs that will be supplied by your teacher.

You'll learn specific painting skills to help you gradually understand the values of colour and tone and then apply them to the surface of your masterpiece to build a layered effect. You will also learn to observe the use of shadows and highlights and replicate them in your own painting to give it a realistic feel.

This is a fun yet relaxing workshop situated in a contemporary art space where you can get inspired by your surroundings.

Hi my name is Leah Bright and I am a practicing artist and a teacher. For as long as I can remember I have loved to create artworks. I majored in Sculpture at University, creating large scale works and today my focus is using the combination of ceramics, drawing and painting. Ceramics is a process that completely grounds me. I love to discover it nuances, textures and ability to take on integral forms and structures.

I have a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts and a Dip Ed in Teaching. I have been practicing as an artist for 20 years and have been teaching in a Secondary School for 17 years. After majoring in sculpture at University, I discovered the love for how things are structured and formed.

The concept of Slow Life Workshops has grown from a desire to reconnect with the quiet self, whilst creating art in a magical setting. All workshops are held in inspirational environments. These locations are chosen for their beauty and their ability to transcend people on their personal journey.

Teaching art is a wonderful opportunity to share knowledge about skills and processes and to help facilitate individual’s to explore their inner artist. My teaching style is energetic and enthusiastic where students are encouraged to let themselves evolve.
