Red Miso (Aka 赤) Making Class

3 hours Class size 2 to 6     label $110

In this fun and hands on class you will learn how to make traditional Japanese Red miso from scratch.

During the class we will make Miso the traditional way, using organic soy beans, Koji culture and sea salt. You will also make a variety of delicious miso recipes and will enjoy a sit down meal including:

  • Grilled brown rice balls with spicy miso paste
  • Boiled vegetables with creamy miso dressing
  • Seasonal vegetable miso soup and more
  • Sweets (will be prepared for you before the class)

If you love the class and want to learn more, we’ll be holding a White miso class as well!

At the end of class you will take about 400-500g miso home with you, which needs to rest for a year. It will be worth the wait!

  • Containers for the miso will be provided.
  • If you book 2 classes at the same time or attend with a friend enjoy a reduced rate of $110pp! Please ask when you’re making the booking.
  • If you are attending White miso and Red miso both classes, receive special discount. Fees will be $210pp
  • As we use organic, biodynamic and chemical free produce ingredients may vary according to seasonal availability.
  • If you have any food allergies or dietary requirements, please let us know when you are booking.
  • This is a hands on cooking class, so we ask that you remove any hand jewellery and may ask you to wear gloves if you have nail art.
  • We will advise you of the exact address once your booking has been confirmed.
  • You can also purchase soramame’s koji products on the day. Participant special: 1 for $8 or 2 for $15

Soramame aims to provide all those people who are worn out from work, have their hands full raising children, were never very good at cooking and are busy with life, with easy and simple tips for a macrobiotic diet from Australia.
A macrobiotic diet has been popular among people who are interested in their own health but many still think ‘It is good for the health but to take on the yin-yang system sounds too difficult’, ‘Working full time won’t allow me to spend time in the kitchen’, ‘It’s too difficult to do intricate cooking when the children are small’, ‘But I have a partner who loves meat’, and ‘It’s hard to get those ingredients in Australia’. For all those reasons they are unable to learn about the diet.
But don’t worry! If you can change your frame of your mind a little, you can cook simple, healthy and hearty meals based on a macrobiotic diet. And your body will be healthier from inside to out by just eating those meals. Isn’t that wonderful?
