Held in Collective Obsessions private studio in Bassendean, everything is supplied. We have over 100 different pigments, powders, pastes and inks to play with. All you need to bring is your imagination and a willingness to learn!

Even if you aren’t very art inclined you can still create resin art and it is our promise that you will finish the workshop with a beautiful piece of art!

Collective Obsessions is all about bringing experienced and budding artists together, providing a platform to try different mediums and learn new techniques through Creative Open Days, Workshops and providing great products.

Starting through our love of creating, painting, designing, building, capturing, telling a story... and well... some say a little craziness, we realised, that through everything we do, we LOVE being creative, we LOVE sharing our studio by having artists (or newbies) creating with us, swapping stories, sharing idea’s and having a blast. We have also arrived at the understanding that “CREATING can become an OBSESSION”... and for us at least, it has. Thus begun our journey as, four art lovers and a studio, or Collective Obsessions!

Meet the Team:

Jamie (Mean Boss)

Finding a passion for creation through photography, often seeing what others just walk past, Jamie's images travelled across the globe enabling them to reach tens of thousands of followers. A lover of all things creative, natural, unique and/or unusual, and with the help and generational teachings of his father, Jamie then started to create timber furniture with a difference. These days, Mean Boss focuses, on nothing... no seriously... nothing.... he uses a variety of mediums including, charcoal and resin, acrylic and lead (pencils) and of course timber, and generally has multiple pieces on the go at once, all the while sharing his studio and constantly striving to find new and interesting ways to use, or break, any medium. (We’re not bringing up pottery any more).

Want to talk about being talented, devotion to the arts, what about creativity... well... then we need to talk about Paula. Influenced and inspired by her mother and with formal training in the arts and architecture, Paula has spent most of her life creating. Oils, acrylics, resin and alcohol inks are just some of Paula’s mastered mediums, with sewing and mixed media being two standout passions (possibly after her two beautiful girls). While visiting our studio, if Paula is in residence, there is sure to be some amazing pieces being created and some spot-on advice and guidance to be had. Oh...and keep an eye open for Paula’s public exhibition later this year.

Rochelle grew up with an art-loving father and creative mother so art was always in her genes. From charcoal, fashion design and then to photography, which captured her heart and cemented her love for creating something that would last a lifetime and forever brings a smile to someone’s face. Whether capturing our human spirit with her photography, giving into natures allure or flow art in all its forms, Rochelle’s passion and talent for creating is simply amazing! Rochelle draws inspiration from living life to its fullest, laughing every day (normally at Jamie), and of course, her favourite place to be, the ocean... I mean our Studio. (She also makes pretty mean cakes and desserts too).

“The Captain” Will Huntley ATC

Will Huntley is a professional artist who has been creating and teaching art for over 30 years. He has worked on films such as Alien 4 - The Resurrection, Austin Powers 2, Jingle All the Way, Starship Troopers, Wild Wild West and many more. He is an accomplished sketch artist, mould maker, painter, prop builder and sculptor, who has had various solo and group exhibitions. Will has been operating as an Artistic Training Consultant (ATC) for the past 10 years and has been consulting, teaching and providing workshops for professional artists, art teachers, and art-related business' around the globe... blah blah blah... actually all that is true... However, we think what's important, is Will’s enormous heart (worn on his sleeve), abundance of patience (is handy, a LOT) and creative noggin (which is endless), which gives him a weird knack in finding just the right way to explain the “how to’s” to each and everyone that asks.

That’s our story and we THANK you for reading and taking an interest.

Bought vouchers for Christmas gift and had a really enjoyable morning with my step-daughter. Michelle was friendly, fun and generous with her time and assistance. Nothing was too much trouble. We both came away feeling that we could replicate the techniques we’d been taught and very satisfied with what we’d made. I can thoroughly recommend this experience.

When I first got to the venue I was a little confused. I was expecting a store front or workshop, not a house! Once inside though, it was fantastic! A perfect location for an intimate class with everything we could need to make our resin masterpieces.
Rochelle was lovely and showed us clearly what we needed to do, but let us use our inner artist to make our coasters and cheese board our own unique design.
Can’t wait to book my next class with them!

Fantastic workshop. Our teacher was so helpful and her demonstrations were easy to follow. Very well organised with everything we needed and a huge range of colours to choose from.
Went with my Mum and 12 year old daughter. We all had a ball and would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Rochelle provided an awesome experience for my sisters hens night. She was very patient with a group of 8 beginner resin artists, explained procedures and techniques clearly and was encouraging with our different styles and tastes. The facility was organised and well set out. It was really nice to be able to use our creativity to make something that will later be taken home and put to use. Thanks Rochelle
