Resin & Wood Serving Board Workshop

Turn your next cheese platter into a masterpiece by creating your own resin trimmed serving boards - suitable for beginners

3 hours Class size 1 to 10 label $200 (or 4 payments of $50 via Afterpay)
($350 per class surcharge applies for private classes)

Turn your next cheese platter into a masterpiece with your very own resin enhanced serving board. We’ll give you the tools and techniques to turn your creativity into a beautiful object you’ll be proud to show off at your next dinner party!

What you will learn:

  • What resin is & how to safely work with it,
  • How to set up and tape your serving boards,
  • How to properly mix your resin,
  • How to add different pigments to colour your resin and
  • The techniques and steps you need to take to decorate your boards.

During this challenging time we will be limiting our colour selection to 5 colour palettes for each class, this is to avoid close gathering during the colour selection process. If you have something in mind, please let us know ahead your workshop and we will happily work with you if none of the options fit your vision - we want to ensure you have a great experience while keeping everyone safe & healthy so we will do everything we can to assist with colours before the workshop.

It can get a bit messy so don't dress to impress. Your boards will need 24 hours to dry, you will need to collect your pieces the following day. Postage can be arranged for an additional charge.

We believe craft is as much about creativity as it is about connection, in our workshops you have the opportunity to meet new friends, share a few stories, laugh with each other and simply enjoy some time out for yourself.

COVID19 Safety Plan: The health and safety of all our participants as well as our own team are a key priority especially as we navigate our way out of the recent COVID19 restrictions. We have completed a COVID safety plan and registered with the NSW Government as a COVID safe business.
For your assurance, below are the key steps we will be taking to ensure your health & safety:

  • If you are feeling unwell on the day please contact us to reschedule your workshop.
  • All surfaces used in the workshop will be cleaned with disinfectant before and after each workshop.
  • All participants will be asked to sanitise their hands on arrival to the studio.
  • There will be a maximum of 10 participants in each workshop with social distancing measures in place.
  • Participants won't be allowed entry into the studio until the commencement of the workshop - we ask participants to be responsible for maintaining social distance if they are waiting outside of the studio.
  • We will maintain a registration of all participants and their contact details for a period of 28 days, these will be stored securely and confidentially and only be used for contact tracing should the need arise.
  • The kitchen area will not be accessible - usually we encourage participants to help themselves to tea & coffee and we love providing a grazing plate to keep you going. Since the studio space is sublet, we can not guarantee the health and safety of our participants or those who work in the space on weekdays if we have an open kitchen. We encourage you to bring your own hot drinks and water with you to the workshop - Sample Coffee is an excellent coffee shop located on Mary Street just a few doors down from the driveway entry. We will have some snacks available but can’t guarantee the effects on your waistline.
  • The bathrooms are managed by Precinct 75, We understand that they are cleaning every few hours but to be safe we will provide disinfectant wipes for your convenience. We will also ensure we have hand soap and paper towels on hand should their supply be insufficient.
  • We begin each workshop with a demonstration which usually means gathering in close proximity to other participants - we will need to work with each group to manage social distance throughout the demonstration, we are confident this can be managed with everyone’s cooperation.

This class is not recommended for pregnant women or children under the age of 16 years as chemicals are used.

Cancellation Policy: no refunds for classes but you are welcome to send someone else in your place if you can't make it on the day.

Thanks Rebecca and Naomi for a great class today. I would recommend this course to anyone who like to create things. It is a great way of introducing yourself to resin and don't stress if you don't think you are creative, you will find it easy and Rebecca and Naomi are alway there to help. Its great that there is parking and the room is light and fresh although might bet a bit hot in the middle of summer.
I can't wait to do another course. Thanks Leonie

It was lots of fun working with the resin and kind of addictive! Naomi and Rebecca were so lovely and explained/demonstrated it clearly, and was then ready to help whenever needed. There were lots of colours to choose from and it was really cool having two pretty serving boards at the end! Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in trying their hand at resin :)

This is the 2nd resin class I have done with the made by me team. Teacher was great (again), super friendly and was always happy to answer any questions I had as I had gathered a few since my last class!
Venue is brilliant, bright spacey warehouse.
All materials were provided and instructions suit those who have never touched it before to those with a little experience. There was a whole family in our class as a family experience which was nice to see.
I will definitely do more classes with the made by me team as there a few different things id like to try!

Our teacher Beck was super knowledgeable, friendly AND she baked scones! The course was very generous providing 3 chopping boards to resin and the space was light, airy and felt good to be in (plus great parking).

The tips and tricks I picked up were invaluable. Best resin course I've done so far, wholly worth the time and money.

Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge!

I loved this class!

The workshop is well thought out, relaxed and lots of fun. Rebecca is fun and knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The spread of colours and effects available was fantastic and a really great reason for doing a workshop so you can play with all the options. I've never used resin before and I'm so happy with the result! Everyone in the class ended with fantastic results with Rebecca's guidance. Would happily recommend to anyone wanting to try resin, no matter the level of artistic experience.

Vicki Smith  •  Feb 2019

Rebecca was a lovely caring person to be around .she made everyone feel very comfortable and confident to use the products and tools provided. The class was a great size and everyone got lots of attention to help give us all the confidence to produce good work.there was no lack of product to use and plenty of beautiful colours and effects eg.sparkel glitter etc . I would have liked a follow up class for the sanding and oiling of work to follow but I understand the drying factor did not allow that .otherwise a great way to explore and share my art experience

Karen Story  •  Feb 2019

This was the perfect gift for me! The workshop was well planned & well executed by an experienced & personable teacher! Very happy with my cheese boards!

Fluid Art workshop review by Michael Mackay
What kind or brand of the powder paint and resin are used in this class?

For the serving boards we used Master Cast. The pigments were a variety of pigments but you should be able to find all that you need in the Art Tree Creations website - there are 5 key categories of pigments you can look at - all are Art Tree’s own brand;

- translucent dyes

- metallic powders

- pearlescent powders

- epoxy pigments

- H2O pigments
