Established in 2012, Salt Meats Cheese is a family-owned Italian restaurant group and purveyor of gourmet Italian produce. The cousin duo behind Salt Meats Cheese, Stefano De Blasi & Edoardo Perlo share a mutual passion for honest cooking using quality ingredients. At Salt Meats Cheese, we’re proud to share this passion with our guests.

Since our inception in 2012, we have expanded our NSW locations to Broadway, Circular Quay and Drummoyne plus our Sydney beachside additions Cronulla and Dee Why.

Originally based at Bourke Road in Alexandria, we have re-located our ‘Salt Meats Cheese Kitchen’ cooking school to our Circular Quay venue. At the same location is our newest addition, the fabulous rooftop Bar Ombre, now open for dining, sipping and events.

Queensland venues include Surfer’s Paradise on the Gold Coast, and in Brisbane, Newstead plus our sister venues La Costa, Cielo Rooftop, Eterna, La Valle and The Parlour, all located in Fortitude Valley!

Such an amazing experience at pasta making and cannoli making on Sunday. Our teacher jeanneane was informative and friendly. Bought this for my partner for his birthday and we both had a lovely experience.
The class was lovely and the help we got making the pasta was more than I thought we would have received.

I booked this class as a team building activity and it was fantastic! The teachers were great, Jenenne was very experienced (her risotto was divine) and gave some great tips, as did our Aperol Spritz teacher.

The class itself was fantastic, everyone had a great time but the best part was sitting down afterwards to enjoy our creations together. The pizza and arancinis were delicious.

The experience overall was very fun and with the amount of food we ate and made was certainly worth it. However the initial impression was poor — the people behind the bar made it feel rushed and stressful despite everyone arriving before 2. We didn’t feel very accommodated for and hurried. The host was also very quiet and hence we missed a lot of information on the steps and history of the ingredients. Having known the expected business of the weekend and small mic pack would have amplified the experience and provided better hearing to the instructions.

Was okay. Got to make pasta, and it tasted good. But the actual experience itself felt boring. The teacher didn’t seem like she wanted to be there and couldn’t really hear her when explaining.

I don’t think they planned properly in advance for the class because we were one of the last people to arrive and there wasn’t enough seats. So my partner and I had to scramble for a chair and had to ask others to move over, very uncomfortable experience no assistance from the staff member until after the fact.

Also got lost getting there, it’ll help if details of location could be provided to customers prior as the restaurant is actually into a building and up 2 escalators (depending).

I've never been to a pasta making class and this was a great way to learn with the pizza, pasta and cannoli provided.

The teacher was great at explaining the process of how to make and roll out the pasta, however I felt that she lacked positive energy and building rapport with the class. Seeing that there were a few Mothers there for Mother's day, there was no acknowledgement of that. It would've been great if she tried to engage with the class besides just instructing how to make pasta and pipe cannoli. Otherwise the tools provided and structure of the class was great. I would recommend this to others. Thank you.

Needs amplification when addressing class - background noise level does not enhance her efforts. More hints for cooking & storing pasta would be useful. And filling bought-in cannolli is not the same as making cannoli on site. Good effort, but room for improvement.

We had a great time at our class. There was demonstration and each step and process was explained well. It is a great class to do with a few friends and I t’s also a great way to meet people. The antipasto, pizza and gnocchi served at the end of the class was so delicious. I would recommend this class to anyone who likes to make good food and likes to eat good food. Nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We really enjoyed ourselves. Might need book some of the other classes that have on offer!

We really enjoyed making Pasta at Salt, Meat, cheese.

The venue was clean and well presented and had a nice atmosphere.

The host was great, explaining things in detail during her demonstration and came around to give everyone individual help as needed.

We left having learned how to make pasta and with very full belly’s + leftovers for days.
The food was definitely worth the price alone.

The teacher was good, easy to understand and attentive to questions. The venue needed air conditioning, it was uncomfortably hot and with a glass roof quite a silly overall building design. The food we made while it tasted good, there were small insects (fruit fly) in the ingredients given to use (we all picked them out). Finally the timing of the class was too early to be dinner but too late to be lunch. All in all enjoyable but could be better with some small changes, except the lack of air-con that was just ridiculous.

I think our teacher's name was Jennie though I'm sorry to her if I got that wrong, but she was so lovely and a marvellous teacher! Her instructions were very detailed and she was very observant, suggesting improvements for everyone as she went around the class. I absolutely loved the session and the food was delicious! It was my first time making pasta from scratch but the class was really easy to follow. The texture of the pasta was wonderful and cooked in two sauces so we had a nice variety to sample. The pizza we had during the break came in generous portions as well. Overall heaps of fun and very rewarding, highly recommend!

Such a fun and memorable experience! Great value for money too as it included an aperol spritz upon entry and a 2nd house drink (beer, wine or soft drink), get fed pizza while you wait for your pasta dough to set, cut then finally eat your own handmade pasta after filling and dipping some cannolis!

On top of that they even let us take a serving of our own pasta, leftovers from the pizza and pasta we ate and even the entire piping bag of ricotta cheese filling with our cannolis!

The instructor was very engaging and a delight to speak to and was very patient with us amateurs, would definitely come back again for seconds :)

Amazing class and excellent value. Our teacher Janine was friendly and attentive. The class easy to follow. We were greeted with a welcome drinks which you can choose to have with your snack (pizza!) as you wait for your dough to settle. A generous 5-6 whole pizzas to share on long table between the group, as you pipe your own cannolis which you can eat fresh or take home. You make two portions of pasta, half for them to make and serve you with housemade ragu sauce and a vegetarian option, and half for you to take home. Highly recommend!

Great experience overall! Great class & everything was very well explained. It was a fun experience to enjoy with friends but also meet new people. When the description said bring your appetite this was not wrong. Antipasto, pizza & our gnocchi creations served at the end of the class, amazing. This would be a great experience to share with friedns, hens nights or team building. I really enjoyed it!

The vegan pasta class was wonderful. My mum and I had a blast!

Only reason it’s not a 5star is because they served meat and cheese for the meat eaters in the class which I think defeats the purpose of having a vegan class, one that people book because of ethical concerns for animals. Having meat on the table was a strange experience.

However, Sarah was a wonderful teacher, the vegan food was delicious and we had a fun day

The teacher, Sarah was great. A few things were not as expected such as only making the pasta itself (fettuccine only) to take home to be cooked later which whatever you choose to put with it. One type of pasta served from the kitchen and a few pizzas. As it was a vegan cooking class, I would have expected all of the food served to also be vegan but it wasn't.

The Ravioli class was so much fun we learnt so much and the teacher was awesome so enthusiastic and Patient. The food in between was delicious and the drinks package was great I did feel however the start of the class when we were at the bar the gentleman and bar staff were a bit flustered and unorganised as to what they were doing. Overall we had a brilliant time and would love to do some of your other classes.

I thoroughly enjoyed the pasta making class. It was easier to make pasta from scratch than I thought it would be!
The venue was amazing! The package included one free drink and "snacks" which turned out to be three different flavours of pizzas! and we also got to take the leftover pasta home! Would definitely recommend!
The only thing about the class was that it was not the full process of preparing the pasta dish from start to finish. The great chefs at the restaurant cooked it for us which tasted delicious but it would have been nice if they also taught how to make the sauce and finish the pasta dish.

I really enjoyed the gnocchi making class. Sasha the teacher was personable and clearly demonstrated how to make gnocchi.
The anti pasto was great while we were waiting for the gnocchi to rest and a good way for everyone to chat.
Cooking the gnocchi with three different sauces was a good way to try the pasta.
Overall a really enjoyable afternoon. The location was good with parking in the building.

Knockout Gnocchi
An enjoyable class run by teacher Sarah who knew her craft of making fresh gnocchi. She gave us a run down of making gnocchi from scratch and provided us with tips and tricks to making it soft and fluffy.
The location was easy to find and convenient to most modes of transport. Clean and modern facilities, with a warm and welcoming in-house staff. Cost was worth it - a complementary drink, entrees as well as dine in experience with the food you cooked and leftovers taken home. A wonderful experience, would recommend :-) Thank you to Sarah and the team at Salt, Meat and Cheese!

Paolo was a great teacher- had a great sense of humour but also taught everything in an easy to understand manner. Also enlightened us with some Italian cultural tid bits. The class unfortunately went significantly overtime. It was advertised as going from 2-4pm which we thought would work well with our baby’s breastfeeding schedule. We needed to leave at 4pm in order to get home to the Central Coast to breastfeed the baby and put her to bed. At 3.40pm it appeared that the class would not be finished at the advertised time of 4pm. We spoke to the teacher who advised that it would finish at 4.45pm. We made arrangements with the babysitter to string the baby out for 45 minutes so we could finish the class. At 4.20pm it was clear that the class would not finish at 4.45pm as the teacher advised because we had still not commenced putting sauce and toppings on the dough. As a result we ordered pizza to takeaway and were not able to complete the class. Other than timing issues the class was good, the teacher was charismatic and the antipasto was delicious. We would have loved to stay and learn about sauce and toppings and were really disappointed that so much of the designated class time was spent sitting at the antipasto table, rather than learning about how to make pizza. We are glad that we know about the process of preparing the dough and we hope that in the future we can complete the full class, as we would love to be able to master the full process of pizza making! The main feedback to improve is to advertise that the class goes from 2-5.30pm so that other breastfeeding mums can attend without stress.

Hi, so my friend and I went and we think it was such a fun experience to be a part of. The location was so easy to get to which was a lifesaver. The teacher was just perfect we had so many laughs and jokes and was so understanding and kind when I made a mistake, just guided me through it. The rest of the class was also wonderful. We learnt how to make the pizza dough/base from scratch. It was a private pizza making class.

The teacher was great, he provided some helpful tips, was funny, was very helpful when we were stuck on a step or process.

The venue was super easy to get to, as it's only a 1 min walk from Circular Quay station, and the place we had our cooking class was in a nice & open area with great lighting.

The materials provided were really good, and we had a variety of good pizza toppings to choose from to add onto our pizzas.

The class was good value for money, there was plenty of food, and the instructor was greathowever, we felt a bit ripped off with the 2 hour bottomless cocktails package, as we didn't start it until 2.30pm when everyone got there (even though the class was booked for 2pm-4pm, some of my friends were running late, so we didn't start the drinks until 2.30pm -- and we were told this was fine, that they can wait for us to start a bit later). So we were cut off from ordering any drinks after 4pm, even though we only started ordering from 2.30pm. There were also no reminders or warnings that our drinks package would end soon -- we were only approached at 4pm to be advised that the drinks package is over; no "hey, just letting you know, you have 1 hour/30 mins/15 mins left on your drinks package".

Overall, the cooking class at SMC was a fun & great experience that my friends & I would definitely do again.

This class was so much fun! Each step in the pizza making process was explained simply and thoroughly, not just showing us the how, but explaining why each step works the way it does.

The class atmosphere was so much fun, there was no pressure, and everybody felt comfortable whether they aced each step on the first go, or if they needed a bit of extra help or even had to start over.

The lunch at the end of the class where we could eat our own delicious pizzas as well as some delicious appetisers was a great addition, and it was so nice to be able to sit down and enjoy our pizzas.

I'd absolutely recommend any classes with Salt Meat Cheese, and I'll definitely be back for their pasta making class.

The class was great.
My partner and I attended the class on 3/01/2021; we were welcomed on arrival with a complimentary drink.
We had our station with all ingredients required and shared the bench with another couple. There were clear instructions and demonstrations throughout the afternoon.
Value for money was fantastic; we went home with our dough to make more pizzas and enjoyed plenty of food and drinks provided throughout the afternoon.

We then all enjoyed our creations, which was a great way to enjoy the whole experience and socialise. A really nice class, great staff and great value (dough to take home, drink on arrival and antipasto). Would really recommend to others!

Sarah, the instructor, was passionate about her craft and if you missed anything in the demonstration she was more than helpful when it came to the actual pasta making and cannoli filling - as well as generously taking a video of you if asked. The rest of the team at Salt Meats and Cheese were also friendly with great customer service and the drinks and pizza also included were absolutely delicious. Fantastic value experience!

I really enjoyed Sarah's class. Not only was she very personable, she also gave a really easy to follow demonstration, helpful tips and helped the entire class create something that had us in awe. Lovely, knowledgeable teacher. We learnt so much about making pizza; looking forward to being able to try it at home!

The first part of the class you learn how to mix the items to make the dough, with tips on how to ferment it, and multiple ways to cook it (not only as pizza, but calzone, focaccia, and more)!

The second part of the class they supply you with pre made dough so you can learn how to stretch it out. Again the teacher shows you multiple ways to do it, as well as how to recover from mistakes such as holes in the dough.

Would love to come back for some or th other classes on offer, such as mozzarella and pasta making!
