Looking for unique experiences in Melbourne for your teens? Express your creativity and discover just how easy and fun it is to screenprint!

In this three hour class, teens can choose a design, pick a colour, and transform their own t-shirts, hoodies or pillowcases. At studiotroika, our beautiful, light-filled space in North Fitzroy, teens will be introduced to the basics of screenprinting, gaining an understanding of the equipment and materials needed.

We will have screens pre-prepared with a range of prints to choose from. Bring along some plain 100 per cent cotton items so there is plenty to print and take home.

Our studio uses eco-friendly water-based inks and we'll be experimenting on supplied calico cloth.
We will provide teens with a tote bag that they can print with their original design and take home.

Extra tea towels and tote bags are available to purchase at $5 per item or you can bring t-shirts/ pillowcases/ tea towels with you to print your original design onto (100% cotton or linen works best).

We also have many designs exposed onto screens which you are welcome to experiment with throughout the class!

This is a fun class focused on learning the basic techniques and then exploring the myriad ways screenprinting can be utilised. Come along, grab a squeegee and get creative!

Please note: If there is a more complex image you would like to expose on-screen (photographic image etc), please contact your teacher one week prior to your workshop to discuss this. There is an additional charge for exposing your own artwork onto screens ($45).

For us, studiotroika is all about accessing and enjoying screenprint. We have created this beautifully practical screenprint space where people can join us in discovering the joy of screenprint.

The founders of studiotroika are Jo Sloggett and Trish Foxworthy. Jo and Trish have been screenprinting together in Melbourne, as Troika Design, for the last 13 years.

Jo's background is in Fine Art, Interior Design and Visual Arts while Trish's background is in Fashion Design and Screenprint Design. We were part of the design collective at Olive Grove Studios in Brunswick for 10 years, during which time we screenprinted out of our studio in Preston.

Our label, Troika Design created a handmade and handprinted range of womenswear and homewares sold through a range of shops promoting independent designers in Melbourne, including Olive Grove Studios, Inspirasia, Northern Thread, Offshoot, Finki, Berserk, and The Cat's Meow.

Jo and Trish are also working towards creating Melbourne's own open access Screenprint studio The People's Print Studio Ltd, a not for profit social enterprise.

Studiotroika is the testing ground where we begin this journey.
