What is Mindfulness Samurai Shodo? サムライ書道って?
In my experience as a shodo instructor, I have seen brush work was hard for non Japanese since they just tried to follow the shapes of a Japanese word. That is called Shuji, and definitely not Shodo.
習字じゃなくて、書道、しませんか?
What do you imagine Samurai?
Yes, a samurai worrier with a sword. So, change the sword to a brush.
For kids over 10 years old, I will accommodate with your needs; e.g. a birthday party. The venue is within and above the busy heritage shopping building, The Block Arcade.
Hi there,
I am teaching something Japanese;
Japanese calligraphy, Japanese Needle Therapy and Japanese Massage and more!
I started practicing Shuji Japanese calligraphy 40 years ago as it is compulsory in primary education which teaches children how to write Japanese words properly and neatly. At high school, I loved Shodo (way of drawing with a brush and ink) and was good at Shodo but my other talent (athletics) stopped me to pursue the way of Shodo.
In 2009, I resumed my Shodo journey and finally got a teaching qualification of artistic Shodo which allows you to express your insights and emotions (rather than Shuji educational shodo).
Beside Shodo, I have been practising Japanese style acupuncture and traditional Japanese massage since 1995. Establishing a popular clinic in Sydney in 2004, now I live in Melbourne to provide Japanese style gentle yet energetic acupuncture and massage treatments as well as teaching Japanese Needle Therapy and Japanese Massage in The Block Arcade since 2013.
I have successfully organised Meetup groups and taught my classes and courses to Australian and international participants. They enjoy my teaching way while I am happy to add Japanese essence into their lives.
I hope you also enjoy the Japanese witch's teaching to have life-changing experiences!
