Silk Colouring Workshop

Learn the art of silk dyeing with salt

2 hours 2 to 4 label $75

This class will introduce you to the magical world of creating colourful starburst designs on silk. The art of silk dyeing with salt is fun, quick and easy to do.

We will begin with a two minute mindfulness practice to centre ourselves and connect with our inner creative wisdom. I will discuss a brief history of silk and go through the step by step process. You will choose your favourite colours to work with. Then it will be your turn to play, unleashing your creativity! Your design will then be transformed by the salt.

Each participant will receive a square white Habotai silk neck scarf with rolled hems, measuring 55cm x 55cm. You will leave with a custom made completed artwork design on your neck scarf.

This workshop is ideal for anyone who would like to learn a new skill where beautiful, mesmerising patterns appear before your eyes. This is a truly unique experience you will thoroughly enjoy. Each piece turns out with organic designs in your favourite colours.

Duration of the class will be approximately two hours. It may be a bit longer depending on the size of the class. Groups and individuals welcome. Maximum number of students per class is 4.

Morning tea will be provided with great conversation, biscuits and organic tea.

I look forward to sharing this experience with you.

I'm an absolute convert and can't wait to come back. Highly recommend this class. Five stars.

I loved this silk colouring workshop with Vanessa, who is friendly and experienced. She gave a great overview of the silk printing technique and had examples to get inspiration from. The actual process of silk colouring is super easy and fun. I left with a beautiful silk headscarf and inspiration to continue the practice. The class is get value for money. Highly recommended!

I attended the the silk dyeing course run by Vanessa on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it. What a fantastic way to spend a Saturday morning! The process was easy to follow even as a complete beginner and the teacher was very knowledgeable, warm and engaging making the two hours fly by. Everyone's end results looked amazing and by the end I was hooked and wanted to do more. Great class, great teacher, very good value for money and lots of fun! Highly recommend it!

A great workshop with a friendly and knowledgable teacher aiding us in creating our own unique silk scarf using paints and rock salt. No skill is required and I was so pleased with the outcome. The cost of $60 for the 2hr class was very reasonable, seeing as silk scarfs can cost a lot more, and you get satisfaction out of the experience. Highly recommend trying it.
