Silversmithing and Sip Class: Make a Silver Ring

Learn how to make a stunning silver ring at this hands-on Brisbane workshop!

2.5 hours Class size 1 to 6

label $250 (or 4 payments of $62.50 Afterpay)

Sculpt, carve and fire your very own silver ring at this hands-on jewellery making class in Fortitude Valley! Come sculpt the time away with Jess Blak in her studio while enjoying a glass of wine and great company.

Guided by Jess, you'll learn the basics of designing and sculpting a lost wax cast ring. Create your own designs with the use of carving tools, fire and your own hands.

This is a great way to engage with tools and materials used by your experienced silversmith to craft their own handmade jewellery.

During the class, you'll make one large ring weighing up to 1.5 grams or two small rings adding up to 1.5 grams. On the night you may add extra rings to your order at the cost of $50 per ring plus the weight in silver.

There'll also be the option to add stones to your designs! These can be purchased for $35 to $45 and you'll be shown the process by your teacher.

Your rings will then be cast in solid silver, sanded, polished and finished in your unique, chosen style. They will be available for collection in store four weeks after the class date.

Jess Blak is an Australian contemporary metalsmith with an appreciation for traditional craftsmanship and ethical practices. Her organic approach to creating balances repetition and authenticity whilst collections are inspired by the juxtaposition of nature and the built environment. The treatment of the designs,  created using the lost wax casting technique, suggests time has manipulated the surface leaving it organic and completely unpredictable. Jess has been working from her flagship store in Brisbane's Fortitude valley for 3 years, handcrafting timeless pieces for her growing clientbase.
