Looking for the best things to do in Sydney for foodies? INDU and The Modern Desi have collaborated to create an exciting series of cooking experiences!

Over a few hours on a Saturday lunchtime, you will get the opportunity to informally learn to cook some of the INDU classics. You will also learn about the ingredients that are the heart of Sri Lankan and Indian cooking and share a few stories and laughs with your fellow lunch companions.

Below are some examples of dishes you may cook on the day:

  • Ammas Dal
  • Lemon and cashew rice
  • Eggplant Moju
  • Chicken Xacuti
  • Jackfruit Xacuti
  • Beetroot Raita

Once the cooking is finished, you will enjoy a feast over lunch and a few glasses of wine, as you connect with those around you at the table. The best part? No cooking experience is needed and anyone can come along to learn how to cook these popular dishes.

At the end of this cooking class, you will take home a recipe booklet and a range of notes from the class.

By providing you with a feast for the senses, we enable a lasting bond with the villages we borrow from. INDU has partnered with ACFID accredited grassroots organisation, Palmera, to establish the Village to Village Program.

Our program will enable communities to build thriving village economies through building the infrastructure for local village enterprises.

V2V’s first project is to build a chicken coup in Northern Sri Lanka. This project will directly assist 20 widows from war-torn Sri Lanka who have been displaced by civil war by providing them employment to generate a meaningful income. The program provides job security, skills training, and vertical business opportunities such as crop farming.
