Join us for a weekend away on grounds surrounded by macadamia and coffee plantations for a two-day painting course. There is even a gorgeous pool to swim throughout the workshop. Go at your own pace, walk the manicured gardens or meditate in a tepee. This workshop is designed for a mind-body experience.

Painting is a wonderful form of meditation where you can lose yourself and the concept of time. This workshop is designed for the beginner, experienced or advanced. You will learn to draft a still life image into a composition. Photographs will be supplied by the teacher, with varying degrees of difficulty.

Specific painting skills will be taught to enable the student to gradually understand the values of colour and tone and to apply them to the surface to build a layered effect.

You will learn to observe the use of shadows and highlights to create a realistic painting by the end of the workshop. This is a super fun class situated on a five-acre property where the surrounds complement the activity.

Limited spaces of eight. Accommodation and airfares not included.

Slow Life Workshops

Hi my name is Leah Bright and I am a practicing artist and a teacher. For as long as I can remember I have loved to create artworks. I majored in Sculpture at University, creating large scale works and today my focus is using the combination of ceramics, drawing and painting. Ceramics is a process that completely grounds me. I love to discover it nuances, textures and ability to take on integral forms and structures.

I have a Bachelor degree in Fine Arts and a Dip Ed in Teaching. I have been practicing as an artist for 20 years and have been teaching in a Secondary School for 17 years. After majoring in sculpture at University, I discovered the love for how things are structured and formed.

The concept of Slow Life Workshops has grown from a desire to reconnect with the quiet self, whilst creating art in a magical setting. All workshops are held in inspirational environments. These locations are chosen for their beauty and their ability to transcend people on their personal journey.

Teaching art is a wonderful opportunity to share knowledge about skills and processes and to help facilitate individual’s to explore their inner artist. My teaching style is energetic and enthusiastic where students are encouraged to let themselves evolve.
