Do you want to learn a fun and creative hobby that helps you live more sustainably? Interested in learning about the ingredients that you use on your skin? Perhaps you're looking for unique gift ideas for friends and family that they can use every day?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, this soap making class at our cosy studio in Dee Why might be for you!
At this hands-on workshop, learn how to make beautiful cold process soaps from scratch using organic and ethically sourced ingredients. These soaps are super gentle and nourishing for the skin and can be used for both the face and body. You'll also learn about sustainable and ethical ingredients, how they affect your skin and what impact they have on our planet.
What you'll learn:
- How to make soap using the traditional cold process method.
- How to design your own beautiful soaps.
- About the organic and ethically sourced ingredients that go into your soap.
- About soap making tools, how to store and cure cold process soaps, and safety guidelines such as how to use lye safely.
- The difference between store-bought soaps and handmade soaps. You are welcome to bring your face or body washes to get to know more about what you're using daily and the environmental effects they may be causing.
Play with natural essential oils and natural raw ingredients to make your soap creations. A variety of colours, clays, flowers and decorations will be available so you can let your creativity flow.
If you've had bad experiences with soap in the past then this class is what you need! Discover for yourself how soft and nourishing natural, sustainable soaps can feel on your skin compared to big brand soaps.
Soap making is often called an endless journey and takes years to learn and study. Even after seven years of soap making, your teacher is still learning, and would love to share what they've learnt so far to help you on your own journey!
Please note: If you are making these soaps for gifting, remember to book ahead of time because it takes up to four weeks for soaps to cure and be ready for use.
Open to absolute beginners and intermediate soapers looking to hone their craft. All the soaps you see above are made by our students and you can do it too!
Please contact your teacher if you would like to book for a child under the age of 15.
- You will make one kilogram of organic cold process soap, which is about eight to 10 slices.
- Your soap bars will be wrapped and shipped to you at no extra cost.
- A little goodie bag that contains a magnetic soap holder (valued at $10) and 3 samples of organic soaps you can try right away (valued at $15).
- A workbook that includes various soap recipes, handling natural ingredients, and supplier list. This information will guide you to continue making simple soap at home.
- Continued support, you can ask me questions about soap making anytime after the class.
Please note: It will take about two to three weeks before your soaps will be shipped to your home for free. You are also welcome to come back to the studio to slice it yourself and take it home at an earlier date.
