My first attempt at watercolour was during one of Melody’s travel journalling workshops where her inspiring teaching encouraged me to keep going. So I was excited to learn about her Creative Club which I hoped would help me sort out some problems I was encountering with colour mixing and paint application techniques. Today’s session didn’t disappoint. Melody is excellent at imparting her professional painting knowledge and she helped bring a couple of my amateurish paintings to life by showing me how to apply deeper tones to shadows and improve contrast in the highlights. She even showed how to achieve the representation of a little pool of translucent nectar at the base of a flower stamen. The studio space is light, airy and open, and there was plenty of time for one-on-one instruction. I’ll definitely be attending another session.

Couldn’t recommend this class more! Melody was a great teacher, she took us through some simple watercolour techniques before we tried our own landscape. She helped us feel really comfortable, having never tried this medium before and I really felt like an artist!
