My first attempt at watercolour was during one of Melody’s travel journalling workshops where her inspiring teaching encouraged me to keep going. So I was excited to learn about her Creative Club which I hoped would help me sort out some problems I was encountering with colour mixing and paint application techniques. Today’s session didn’t disappoint. Melody is excellent at imparting her professional painting knowledge and she helped bring a couple of my amateurish paintings to life by showing me how to apply deeper tones to shadows and improve contrast in the highlights. She even showed how to achieve the representation of a little pool of translucent nectar at the base of a flower stamen. The studio space is light, airy and open, and there was plenty of time for one-on-one instruction. I’ll definitely be attending another session.

Yes, value for money. I normally paint with acrylics but in class learnt to take more care and time in getting the mix of colour right.
