Weaving classes are wonderfully creative and tapestry weaving is just like painting with yarn - the possibilities are endless! In this hands-on tapestry class in Melbourne, you'll learn a range of weaving techniques using a weaving loom to create your own wall hanging or tapestry.
Your expert teacher, Melbourne-based tapestry weaver and fibre artist Catherine Hallam will teach you how to weave on a frame loom to create a beautiful woven creation to keep and display in your home.
You'll learn the basics of tapestry and a range of weaving methods including how to warp your loom, create shapes and texture, as well as how to add a fringe.
There won't be enough time in your tapestry class to entirely complete your project but you'll be given a weaving kit, including a 30 x 40cm frame loom, warp string and yarn, a shuttle, needle and set of instructions to take home to complete your piece. You'll go away with so many new skills and all of the knowledge you need to complete your piece of tapestry art at home with confidence.
