Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I always appreciate feedback. I am so sorry you felt your expectations of the class were not met. On my listing, I do provide information of what to expect which includes a step-by-step handout with illustrations. Visual cues can often be very useful to help children follow longer instructions as it provides them with something to refer back to. My experience over the past few years of teaching is that children pace themselves at different levels so giving a child autonomy for their creations helps them set their own pace, avoids the pressure of keeping up with others and builds confidence working through the steps.
The fondant is never precut for my classes, they are measured out in colours and the correct quantity. This is for ease and to avoid wastage. Participants are then able to cut and shape as needed to achieve the end result.
I spent time sitting next to your son on and off throughout the class offering help and encouragement. Most children have fondant left over once their cupcakes have been decorated. I suggested to your son to make something else with his left-over colours. He chose a light sabre which we completed together; he was super chuffed placing it on top of one his cupcakes which brought a smile to my face.
