Hi. I’m Alys! I’m a pattern maker, and I’ve worked for brands such as Alexander McQueen, steventai, Paper London and Teija. I aim to teach pattern making in a fun and easy way to give you the freedom to design your own clothes exactly how you want.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design from Nottingham Trent University - renowned for giving its students a strong skill base. My love for pattern making developed here, combining my enjoyment of experimenting and problem-solving with art, sewing and creativity. I love teaching and bouncing ideas around with others to turn a design and a concept inside your head into something real!

I’ve been teaching students in person for the past four years, so I design my online courses to be as hands-on as real-life workshops, yet with the flexibility to work in your own time.

Alys is an exceptional teacher and made sure everyone had one-on-one time. I am delighted with my pattern and Alys gave me pointers on how to draft a second garment I took to the class. The workshop demystified the process of pattern making. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and instructive session.

This was an amazing class that was informative and fun. Alys, our teacher, was easy going, clear in her instructions, very helpful, and patient. She looked after us individually as well as a group and was willing to give us advice and pointers and kept us all on track. Alys provided everything we needed and was able to answer all our questions in full. I learnt so much and came away feeling confident in how to copy a garment and create a paper pattern. Extremely good value for money.

Alys was a warm and fabulous teacher. Alys made us all feel so comfortable and her instruction and support to get our outfits drafted was excellent.
I would highly recommend doing this workshop to learn a practical way to draft your favourite outfit.

What a fun class! I learnt lots from Alys and had a great time being around likeminded people.

Alys is an excellent teacher, very hands on, teaching in a way that’s easy to grasp, and is very patient, taking lots of time to help each of us during the class.

Alys offers bits and pieces to purchase after the class if you would like, and has loads of materials to use during the class.

The venue can be a bit cold in winter so make sure to dress warm.

The class is great value for money, and I hope to do another class by Alys in the future.
