Really enjoyed this class - Luke explained things well and was a patient and positive coach. There was plenty of time with practising the drill and impact driver. He carefully supervised us individually as we used a circular saw and drop saw for the first time. We all went home with a great looking hardwood planter box and enough knowledge/skill to be able to do it again.
I had always wanted to try my hand at woodworking, so this class was the realisation. I was worried I would struggle with technique and strength, but the teacher gave clear direction so I understood what I was trying to do. I was given space to try my hand at the tools and methods to work out what worked for me, with advice available when desired. I came away with a beautiful spatula that I embarrassingly proud of.
Bought as a gift for my husband. He absolutely loved it, instructor was friendly, and he made a beautiful spatula. He's looking for the next course as we speak!
We loved this course! Annette is a great teacher and we learned a lot more than we expected. Being able to make and take home a stool was very satisfying. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to get a good grasp on the fundamentals of upholstery.
Furniture finishing course with Shane.Really well taught course, which covered the underlying principles, enabling us to make informed decisions about what approaches to take on future tasks. Friendly, relaxed, informative and fun.
The workshop was very enjoyable and educational. Brad is a great teacher and made the session very fun. An extra hour might be good, just so everyone can leave with a finished spoon.
Small group (7 of us) and very patient teacher Noel. Goals were clear, tuition was easy to understand. It felt good to use old-fashioned hand tools and to end the course with a useful product; I’m very proud of my saw bench.
I had a great time. Noel was a fantastic teacher and went the extra mile to share his knowledge of wood and tooling. He was on hand to help the whole class with our saw benches, sharing advice and how to correct any mistakes we made. It was great to produce my own saw bench, become more confident with woodworking and learning new skills. It was very satisfying and I highly recommended this course.
Teachers were knowledgeable and supportive, I love my stool (I’m going to use it as a poop stool) and boy does it feel good to do a class working with your hands!!! :))

Awesome class, Tim and Luke were super helpful, informative and patient. Learnt some super helpful tips for putting together frames, being able to watch someone who knew what they were doing made all the difference.
This was a great class. The teacher Nick was patient and encouraging; he made sure that everyone had plenty of support to whittle. I enjoyed the class and am keen to keep whittling. There were different types of wood to try out and different knives and overall, it was a very positive experience.
The whittling class was great. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. Our instructor was great. He was very positive and patient, allowing us to work at our own pace. I recommend it.
A great introductory course: the teacher was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We got a good understanding of the basic tools and techniques: now hooked on woodwork!
This was a fantastic course, and Nick was a wonderful instructor. He explained the tools and techniques very clearly, and gave a lot of one-on-one help all day.The group vibe was relaxed and friendly. I would definitely recommend this class to everyone!!The introductory animal for carving was a wombat, which I thought was a great choice by Nick. Wombats are naturally chunky animals, so our carvings all looked cute at each stage of development. There was also the option to carve other animals (or objects) at a variety of sizes from two or three different types of wood.There are some nice cafes nearby, but I'd advise people to pack a lunch if they'd like to eat something substantial without having to take too much time away to buy a lunch.Really amazing workshop, thank you Nick and the ATT team :)
Class was fantatstic. Learnt a few simple, essential techniques and applied them on a good sample to try. Class duration was good. presenters were informative and helpful. Environment was basic, but authentic. Very welcomed experience in this day when noby has the opportunity to learn these skills at work. Loved the xpereiince.
Luke was patient, thorough and helpful across the two days. Although each step in the process seemed straightforward, furniture cord weaving is challenging and surprisingly physical. The quality of the final woven stools were extremely high! A fantastic introduction to Danish cord weaving. I highly recommend this class!
What an excellent class! It was challenging but in a great way, we all ended up with stunning Danish weave chairs. Luke was a fabulous teacher, patient and alway willing to help!
Loved this class. Teacher Luke was wonderful explaining each step clearly and checking in with everyone of our small group all through the process. We learned about materials and preparation for a cord weaving project, planning, pattern making and weaving and knotting techniques when working with danish paper cord. I made lots of mistakes but Luke was patient in helping me fix them and full of encouragement to keeping me going. I left with a gorgeous stool, tired fingers and a big smile on face.
Really fun class Luke is an excellent teacher and the whole day was great fun The stool I finished is really cute and I learnt a lot. Thanks again Luke! Definitely worth it
My partner and I recently attended a wood whittling class, and we absolutely loved it! From start to finish, the experience was engaging and enjoyable. Nick, the instructor, was phenomenal—10 out of 10! He was patient, knowledgeable, and really took the time to explain the techniques clearly. His passion for wood whittling made the class even more enjoyable, and we both felt encouraged throughout. We left feeling proud of our creations and excited to continue learning. Highly recommend this class to anyone looking to try something new or hone their skills!
Teacher was fantastic, a professional, friendly helpful and engaging. I loved the relaxed vibe, sitting in a circle, carving away with the fans going. It was a great introduction class and I carved the wombat which ended up looking more like a rabbit haha. Took too much off the ears I think. I’m so excited for the carving your own mushrooms which will hopefully be added to the timetable soon.
The teacher (Nick) was fantastic. Warm, friendly, extremely helpful. Having whittled previously you were shown all the basic skills you needed to carve a small animal (I chose to do a wombat). This was a fantastic course, I would absolutely recommend to anyone interested in getting started
I really enjoyed this beginner's woodwork class! Inrgid my teacher and Luke were both very patient and kept the class running at a good pace. Walking away from that class felt so satisfying with a product you had made. I would definitely be interested in looking into more woodwork classes.
What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday! The class was excellent. Annette was very friendly, clear and thorough in her explanations. We learned more than just how to do something but also the why. I feel confident that I could not only make another footstool in the future, but also that i could take something apart like a chair and repair it. Highly recommend this class!
Made my own Adirondack Chair using recycled timber. Having never made furniture before I was happy to have been able to achieve this. Made possible by a well prepared course.
I found the 2-day Introduction to Furniture Building an excellent class in lots of ways. The 2 instructors Mark and Tim were fantastic - both extremely knowledgeable, competent and great teachers yet both with quite different approaches and perspectives on the craft so it was always interesting. The project of making the table was well designed as it covered a lot of different challenges and techniques yet simple enough that everyone finished with a high quality product. There was also lots of opportunities to rry out different tools for doing the same thing to increase the learning. I learned a lot and am keen to do further courses at Among The Trees. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to start off trying furniture building
I learned lots of techniques and tips to help me make a table by making a little one. Mark and Tim were great instructors and very encouraging to those of us who had limited woodworking skills. I feel inspired to make the dining table I’ve been thinking about for the last few years. The course was fun and empowering.
I've been wanting to try whittling for a while now and it turns out I love it. Nick is an excellent teacher and there's a fun range of projects to work on. (You can also go off the beaten bath if you want and Nick will help you all the same.)

Attended with my 13yo son. Instructors we patient, thoughtful kind, very skilled in woodworking and we came out with two great stool, some new skills and a wonderful father / son experience.
Whether you are a complete beginner or a bit handy like me, this is an excellent course. The materials, tools, room and constant assistance and advice were excellent. In our group of 10, even the most challenged completed the project and did a good job. Also great to be offered on going help, just call. I'd recommend this course to all beginners of any standard. This was the first time I had been to this class, and wished we could have made two of these lovely tables - they are perfect for the bedside. Mark is a brilliant facilitator, Tim his amazing technical support, the team combined made a powerful team that facilitated a varied group through this process with ease, laughter and left us all with a sense of achievement. Well done to Luke for running this course, well done to Mark and Tim for a memorable weekend.
- This was a birthday present that I received a few weeks ago. - I learnt a lot during the workshop. It feels so easy when you have the right tool, the workshop and people to teach you! Anyway I really enjoyed it.- Mark and Tim were really good, very patient and knowledgeable. Very good team!- The workshop and equipment available were very good with the right number of equipment and workbenches. Really good setup. - What I like the most? The people, working with wood, learning new skills.
Great teachers - Mark & Tim - with clear instructions to really get the learnings you want. They gave excellent tips, techniques and finishes that were for each persons ideas in what they wanted to create. Really loved it and will come and do more courses.
