We decided to run our wagashi dessert making class for our team bonding day and it was such a joy We! We arrived at Kathryn's house in the Blue Mountains and were greeted with a delicious Buckwheat Tea. We made three desserts each and enjoyed the art of making them, each requiring patience and care. Kathryn was so lovely and patient with us and explained everything in fine detail. I would highly recommend for the start of an enjoyable day out with a team.

Kathryn was an excellent teacher and we enjoyed her class immensely. We arrived late, unfortunately due to the fact that Class Bento had not updated Kathryn's address properly Thankfully, we were able to contact Kathryn, when we could not find her house and she was gracious and generous. I would have no hesitation in recommending this and any other class that Kathryn takes.
Kathryn is extremely well organised and patient with absolute beginners.
Easy to follow steps resulting in exquisite designs.
I loved class and hope to do the advanced class with Kathryn as well.

Arriving at the location, we felt quite welcome and the class location was extremely cozy.
Overall, the class was enjoyable, fun and insightful. The tools and support was also amazing, and the matcha mixing went well with the wagashi we made.

Kathryn was very kind, patient and explained things well. In the class we dyed the dough, and used our hands and tools to shape them into three different shapes. It was well-paced and very beginner friendly. We can’t wait to eat what we made!
Wonderful friendly teacher, very informative about what we had to do and helped us understand the fine art to wagashi making
Very fun to do
Was a fantastic afternoon
Kathryn was always super positive and really encouraging as we tackled making the different Wagashi types!
Time passed so quickly since we were having so much fun - but it NEVER felt rushed or like we had to hurry. Before we knew it the class was over and we all felt accomplished having produced 4 or 5 different designs to take home! Super cute bunny design was a favourite of mine!
Loved this class so much! My friends and I had such a great time. Kathryn was an amazing teacher. So patient and accomodating - we felt so at home. Highly recommend this class to anyone looking to try something different.

Kathryn was so welcoming and open from the moment we walked in, serving us yummy buckwheat tea as we learned the peaceful craft of Wagashi making. My sister and I were inspired to see the end-to-end process of making these beautiful treats, and we would highly recommend this experience!
Kathryn was friendly and supportive. We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the traditional aesthetic of her workshop too. The tools used were high-quality too which justifies the cost of the class.

We really enjoyed our class. Was worth the travel from Sydney. My teenage daughter was apprehensive at first but by the end she loved it. The teacher was very encouraging and gave interesting facts along the way. I think we rushed ourselves
(not the teacher) and needed to understand that the class was just as much about the craft as it was a lesson in tranquility and patience. Highly recommend.

Kathryn is an excellent teacher, patient and passionate about her craft. Wagashi making is labour intensive and requires skill. Kathryn walks you through it all and makes it thoroughly enjoyable. At the end of the class you have tiny delicious desserts to take home and a sense of accomplishment. All materials provided. Venue easy to find. I did this with my mum and we loved it.

This Wagashi class was lots of fun and really meditative. Kathryn is a lovely teacher and really great at communicating and helping us when we're confused or struggling to get it right.
Kathryn spent lots of time prior to the class preparing the ingredients and because of that the sweets tasted lovely, not too sweet but the perfect amount.
Wagashi is the kind of food that requires really hands-on instruction and help, and the results came out really nice, especially for my first try! The class is lots of fun and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone interested

Kathryn is a highly skilled and dedicated teacher who passes her passion onto her students through her classes. Throughout this course you learn the crafting and intricate detailing of Wagashi in an easily approachable manner. Kathryn provides highly detailed and hands on instructions that are so much more useful than any YouTube video or cookbook. I highly recommend this class to anyone who is interested in Japanese food and desserts.
Thank you Kathryn!
Had a lot of fun making the wagashi. Will come back for another class to learn how to make the nerikiri dough when available.

Had an amazing time, i had booked this in as a surprise for a very good friend of mine. We had the best time. Do your self a favour and book a class and just enjoy. It's a great way to destress.
Loved this class! Kathryn was a fantastic teacher and talked us patiently through the steps of preparing and colouring the Wagashi dough, followed by putting in the filling, shaping and decorating. We came away with five Wagashi each, all different designs. They were almost too pretty to each (but we ate them anyway because they were delicious!) highly recommended, will definitely return for Kathryn’s other classes.
