In this fun and easy-going workshop in Canberra, we'll experiment with watercolour painting. You will get to take home a beautiful watercolour composition created by you!

This watercolour workshop is perfect for beginners, as you'll learn about all the magical aspects of simple watercolour techniques, colour mixes, intensity and washes, graduation and variegation of colour, composition and drawing, by creating a small, simple watercolour painting.

With many demonstrations by an experienced instructor and hands-on exercises, you will gain a wider appreciation and understanding of the medium of watercolour which will help you build your confidence to proceed to the next level. Chan Dissanayake is a multi-award winning watercolour artist’s living in Canberra ACT. His mastery in watercolour is manifested by the vast varying subject matter that he tackles from rural landscapes, urban city scapes to coastal seascapes. In 2017, Chan was elected to the Australian Watercolour Institute and in 2019 he was invited to attend Youyu International Watercolour week on China as an international guest artist.

Known for his innovative approach to teaching and generosity in sharing his knowledge, Chan has gained considerable reputation as an outstanding tutor. He conducts workshops throughout Australia and leads international painting tours. He is currently, teaches watercolour at the Australia National University (ANU). Chan has contributed many articles to leading art publications including International Artist, Australian Artist and Artists Palette.

His quick and direct approach to watercolour has earned him much success and respects both nationally and internationally.
